    Dramatic improvement after new ownership

I was terrified at first - my loved one was left alone for hours, call lights went unanswered, meds were late, portions small and staff unprofessional and extremely short-staffed. Since new ownership and stronger leadership the building, staffing and therapy have improved dramatically: care, communication (window/FaceTime visits), activities, courtyard and COVID-free measures are much better. It's not perfect, but I now highly recommend this facility.

    Summary review

The reviews for Lenox Ridge Nursing and Rehab (North Olmsted Healthcare) present a mixed but cautiously optimistic picture with clear patterns of improvement under new ownership alongside persistent operational and staffing issues. Multiple reviewers explicitly note that the facility has "improved greatly" since an ownership change; they cite stronger leadership, visible building improvements, and signs that the facility is "going in the right direction." These improvements are reinforced by positive accounts of therapy success and rehabilitation outcomes, with at least one family reporting a highly successful recovery and explicitly recommending the facility. The presence of caring, respectful staff and examples of staff teamwork are recurring positives, and some reviewers miss specific staff members when residents leave, which indicates meaningful caregiver-to-resident relationships for some residents.

Communication and family engagement emerge as strengths in several reviews. Families report good communication overall, and the facility has facilitated window visits and FaceTime/virtual visits during restricted periods. Socially distanced activities and a well-maintained courtyard and pleasant outdoor space are mentioned as positive aspects that support residents' social and outdoor needs. A few reviews also note that the facility has been COVID-free at times, which families value.

However, serious concerns persist and are raised repeatedly by multiple reviewers. Staffing levels and responsiveness are the most prominent issues: several reviews describe the facility as extremely short-staffed during parts of the day, which has led to call lights going unanswered, residents being left alone for hours, delayed medication administration, and a general reduction in responsiveness during busy times. Some reviewers specifically reported unprofessional behavior and a perceived lack of compassion from certain staff members. These operational shortcomings contribute to polarized experiences—while some families feel the care is strong and improving, others report neglect and an overall negative impression.

Dining and medication management also show inconsistent performance. While a few reviewers praise the food, others are unhappy with it, citing small portions and overall dissatisfaction. Medication timing is another tangible concern; at least one review notes meds being dispensed late, which is an important safety and quality-of-care issue. Additionally, families have expressed frustration that complaints are not always addressed and that there is limited public information about ownership (no website or owner details noted), which can undermine confidence in transparency and accountability.

Practical communications outside of family updates are an area for improvement: some reviewers say staff are unable to answer phones, describing the situation as "ridiculous," and others report difficulties getting satisfactory responses to concerns. Taken together, these points indicate the facility is in a transitional phase: visible leadership and facility improvements and documented therapy successes suggest positive momentum, but inconsistent staffing, occasional neglectful incidents, variable dining and medication practices, and gaps in accountability and communication keep the overall reputation mixed.

Overall, the dominant themes are progress under new ownership paired with ongoing operational challenges. Prospective residents and families should weigh the documented improvements in leadership, therapy outcomes, and family engagement against recurring reports of staff shortages, responsiveness problems, and uneven care quality. For families who prioritize rehabilitation and who value outdoor spaces and virtual visitation options, Lenox Ridge may be an improving choice; for those most concerned about consistent staffing, timely medications, and guaranteed responsiveness, the mixed reviews suggest continued vigilance and direct, ongoing communication with facility management is advisable.
