    Clean facility but safety concerns

I had a mixed experience. The facility is bright, clean, and rehab-focused - many staff (Jackie, Katie, Tim, Logan mentioned) were kind, caring and competent, and the campus feels welcoming. But I also witnessed serious safety and infection-control lapses (unsanitary bathrooms, poor hand hygiene), HR/reception problems, falls/neglect, and even reports of theft and police involvement. I'd cautiously recommend for short-term rehab if you verify infection-control and management improvements; I would hesitate to place a loved one there long-term until those issues are resolved.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is sharply mixed, with a clear polarization between multiple very positive accounts praising staff and rehabilitation services, and several severe negative reports alleging lapses in safety, sanitation, and professional conduct. Many reviewers describe Ayden Healthcare of Piqua as a bright, clean, and cheerful facility with compassionate caregivers and strong rehab/therapy offerings. Positive comments emphasize personable nurses and therapists (with a few staff members named specifically), helpfulness, efficient teamwork, and an Activities Department that engages residents. Several families reported trusting staff with loved ones, praising the campus, short- and long-term care options, and describing the facility as among the best in the area for rehab needs.

Contrasting sharply with those positives are numerous alarming complaints about infection control, sanitation, resident safety, and administrative responsiveness. Specific and serious allegations include bathrooms not being cleaned for extended periods, a full sharps container left in resident areas, and apparent failures in hand hygiene and use of gowns — all of which reviewers said increased MRSA and cross-contamination risks. There are also reports of traumatic incidents including a resident death under distressing circumstances, families alleging staff gaslighting, and allegations of theft of personal property. Those negative reviewers stated they involved the police, reported the facility to the Ohio Department of Health, and engaged ombudsman services. These are not isolated minor gripes; they reflect systemic concerns about safety, oversight, and accountability raised by multiple reviewers.

Care quality and staff behavior emerge as a core theme where experiences diverge. A substantial number of comments portray staff as genuinely caring, attentive, and professional, with specific praise for nursing and therapy teams and several named employees. These reviewers describe timely assistance, personal attention, and a cohesive team atmosphere. Conversely, other reviewers recount rude or unprofessional conduct, insufficient attention leading to repeated falls, restrictive policies limiting resident freedoms, and reports of poor communication from management or HR. This bifurcation suggests variability in experience that may be related to shift, team, or resident-specific circumstances rather than uniform facility performance.

Facility amenities and environment also generate mixed feedback. Many reviewers commend the building’s cleanliness, bright lighting, and welcoming atmosphere, calling the campus beautiful and the environment conducive to recovery. Safety checks and cheerful common areas were noted. In opposition, some reviewers report tight, small rooms and describe glaring sanitation problems in specific locations. Dining receives mixed marks: some residents found meals appetizing and satisfying, while others criticized food choices and described low-quality offerings on particular occasions.

Management, administration, and responsiveness to complaints are recurring concerns. Several reviewers described filing formal reports with health authorities and law enforcement, and expressed frustration with perceived indifference or inadequate responses from facility management. Others noted new management or a change in team leading to a more positive atmosphere, indicating potential recent improvements but also inconsistency over time. Human resources and reception were singled out by a few as unprofessional or incompetent, pointing to uneven front-line administrative interactions.

Patterns to note for someone evaluating these reviews: positives consistently focus on the caregiving staff, therapy services, and facility environment, while negatives repeatedly cluster around infection control, sanitation, resident safety incidents, and serious allegations involving property loss and crisis events. The juxtaposition of glowing and grave reports suggests that experiences at Ayden Healthcare of Piqua may vary considerably by unit, staff on duty, or the timeframe of the stay. Given the severity of some allegations (infection risk, safety lapses, police/health department involvement), those concerns merit particular attention and verification. Overall, the facility receives strong praise from many families for rehabilitation and compassionate caregivers, but the presence of multiple serious complaints means prospective residents and families should investigate further, review official inspection reports, and ask facility management directly about infection-control practices, incident records, staff training, and complaint resolution procedures before making placement decisions.

    About Ayden Healthcare of Piqua

Ayden Healthcare of Piqua sits at 275 Kienle Drive in Piqua, Ohio, and people know it as a place focused on general healthcare services for seniors, whether someone needs assisted living, memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, or skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The building has 99 certified beds, but they usually care for about 81 residents every day. They provide a range of services including therapy for stroke recovery, physical and occupational therapy, care after orthopedic surgery, wound care, palliative and hospice care, and physician services, and those with complex medical needs have help right there. You'll find modern accommodations with quiet spaces and some nice outdoor landscaping so folks can enjoy being outside or gather together inside in the common rooms. The staff aims to give support with laundry, housekeeping, and up to two prepared meals a day, so residents don't have to worry about those chores, and the nurses spend about 3.17 hours with each resident daily, which is less than the state average, as some folks have pointed out.

Management comes from Ayden Healthcare, with Adam Cusner handling things since January 2025 along with Jeffrey Degyansky, Eliezer Goldish, Solomon Kazarnovsky, and Abba Stein, all joining in May 2024. Now, the facility has had 40 deficiencies in reports, including four related to infection control, and people have raised concerns about timely reporting of suspected abuse, neglect, or theft, issues that were officially noted in 2025, and there's also the matter of their last standard inspection being more than two years ago, which is longer than the regular 9 to 15 month interval. Even so, there's a real effort from the team to provide warm, compassionate care, with programs that encourage independence and dignity, open social activities for residents, and a feeling of community as a focus. The place gives options for both active independent seniors and those who need higher levels of nursing or rehab. Residents can choose comfortable living spaces, from residential homes to apartment-style rooms, with medical care available as needed and extra support for memory care. The healthcare professionals at Ayden Healthcare of Piqua try to make things feel a little more like family, always aiming to enhance wellness, encourage socializing, and help each person feel at home in their own way.
