    Beautiful community with caring staff

I moved my dad here and I'm very pleased - the facility and grounds are beautiful, clean, and home-like with great Main Street amenities and plenty of outdoor space. The staff are kind, dementia-trained and deeply engaged, management is hands-on and locally owned, and the chef's fresh, tasty meals and lively activities make it feel like a real community. A few reviewers mentioned occasional staffing or laundry hiccups, but my experience has been excellent and I highly recommend it for assisted living or memory care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is mixed but leans strongly positive. A majority of reviewers praise Renaissance of Richfield/Bath for its compassionate, attentive staff, attractive Main Street-style facility, robust programming, and high-quality dining. Multiple reviewers described staff as loving, engaged, and individualized in their approach, and many families expressed high confidence and satisfaction in the care provided for both assisted living and memory care residents. The facility’s physical appearance, spacious rooms, well-maintained grounds, and ample outdoor space are frequently highlighted as standout features.

Care quality and staff: The most consistent positive theme is the quality of the caregiving team. Numerous reviews call out staff as outstanding, caring, and respectful; several specifically credit staff with taking the time to learn residents’ personal interests (for example, gardening) and integrating those interests into care and activities. Memory care receives repeated praise — reviewers note dementia training, a secure environment with wander-monitoring bracelets, and a layout that supports safety and supervised freedom. Families repeatedly describe a family-like culture, hands-on local ownership, and management teams who are visible and involved. That said, a subset of reviewers raised serious concerns about staffing levels, reliance on agency staff, and occasional shift walk-offs or staff frustration, which suggests variability in day-to-day staffing stability.

Facilities, amenities, and layout: The Main Street concept (movie theater, chapel, beauty/barbershop, cafe) is repeatedly mentioned as a positive that creates a town-like, social environment. Reviewers appreciate roomy apartments and non-crowded common areas, and many cite well-laid-out grounds with courtyards, patios, and paths for walking and gardening. The site is described as aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained by many reviewers; others, however, report cleanliness lapses (especially with floor cleaning and laundry service), creating a split impression on housekeeping consistency.

Dining and activities: Dining is a frequent highlight — several reviewers praise an “amazing chef,” scratch-made meals, healthy options, and even thoughtful accommodations such as flavorful liquid diets. Activities are varied and purposeful: chair yoga, worship services, baking classes, dog visits, hymn-singing and support groups are examples given that point to active programming for physical, social, and spiritual needs. Social outreach and engagement (including an active social media presence) also earn positive mentions, and families note that programming helps residents feel at home.

Management, safety, and complaints: While many reviews commend the local ownership and hands-on management, there are also several serious criticisms. Some reviewers allege under-staffing, underpayment of staff, and administrative focus on payments rather than clinical or resident concerns. One reviewer alleged a tragic death tied to faulty doors — this is a severe claim that appears only in some reports and should be investigated further by prospective families. Other operational complaints include laundry backlogs, inconsistent routine checks, and hospice coordination disputes. A few reviewers used strong language calling the facility “fraudulent” or “horribly managed,” but these extreme negative opinions contrast sharply with the numerous five-star endorsements and may reflect isolated incidents, personal disputes, or experiences at particular times.

Cleanliness and consistency: Cleanliness comments are polarized. Many reviewers emphasize that the facility is extremely clean and well-maintained, while several others point to specific cleaning shortcomings (floors not cleaned adequately, suggestions for stronger cleaning products). Laundry service issues and delayed linens or resident clothing were also noted. This suggests that while the facility generally projects a very clean, high-end appearance, operational consistency in housekeeping and laundry may fluctuate.

Recommendation and action items for families: The preponderance of positive reviews supports Renaissance of Richfield/Bath as a high-quality option for assisted living and memory care, especially for families prioritizing compassionate staff, a variety of activities, strong dining, and attractive amenities. However, the presence of serious negative allegations (staffing problems, safety incident claims, laundry/service lapses) means prospective residents and families should perform due diligence. Recommended steps include: ask management about current staffing ratios and use of agency staff; request documentation of safety incidents and any corrective actions taken; verify Medicaid acceptance and contract/payment policies; tour housekeeping and laundry workflows; check recent inspection and survey reports; and speak with current residents’ families about recent day-to-day consistency. Doing so will help reconcile the overwhelmingly positive aspects with the noted operational concerns and determine whether the facility’s strengths align with a family’s expectations and needs.
