    About The Welsh Home

The Welsh Home sits on Center Ridge Rd in Cleveland, Ohio, near Beachcliff II, and serves as a non-profit community offering skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, assisted living, and memory care. Residents stay in private rooms, each with a flat screen TV, cable service, phone, wireless internet, and big windows for nice views. Founded in 1911 by the Women's Welsh Club of Cleveland-who opened it officially on Thanksgiving Day, 1919-the home has always served seniors, especially those with Welsh roots and their spouses, and is still operated by the Women's Welsh Clubs of America. The Welsh Home first started with about 15 residents on Mayfield Rd in South Euclid, then moved to 22199 Center Ridge Rd in Rocky River, with bigger buildings added in 1953 and again during big expansions in 1985, so now the campus can host many more people.

The home has a six-unit assisted living area and also gives care to people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, plus short-term stays after sickness or surgery, and rehabilitation for people returning home. It gives Medicare-certified therapy services every day, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and handles care for cardiac recovery, orthopedic injuries, joint replacements, wound care, oncology support, stroke and neurological disorders, and diabetes. There's an outpatient rehab program for people living nearby, and therapy sessions happen seven days a week so recovery can keep moving.

To help with daily life, staff give restorative help for dressing, walking, feeding, bathing, and grooming, and nurses and therapists are always around. Residents have a barbershop on-site, a big rehabilitation room, and a pastoral care unit with a nondenominational chaplain, so spiritual support is available if needed. The campus offers pharmacy help, mobile dental services, podiatry, psychological and social services, and holds activities and events like picnics, movies, games, and exercises to keep people busy and connected. Independent living amenities are there for people who need less support but still want community, and the whole campus is set up for comfort and wellbeing.

The Welsh Home uses its own names and terms for its programs and buildings, shaped by years of history and care for Welsh seniors and others. Fax communication comes with the territory, as do big windows, private rooms, and places set up to feel comforting and safe. The home has always used donations and endowments, with the fund once reaching $235,000 by 1929, and the building has stood through many decades, holding onto traditions but updating features over time.
