    Spotless new facility caring staff

I'm very pleased with my decision to move here - the brand-new, spotless facility feels home-like and well maintained. The staff (Jenny gave an excellent tour) are warm, attentive and skilled - nurses and the memory-care team especially - and the executive director is accommodating. Chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals with guest dining, daily activities, transportation, laundry and apartment cleaning provide great peace of mind and value.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews portray The Landings of Sidney as a community with consistently strong interpersonal care and an active, home-like environment. Families and residents commonly describe staff as compassionate, attentive, and familiar — creating a family-style atmosphere. Nursing and aide support are frequently characterized as responsive and respectful, and the community is noted for its memory-care capabilities and individualized attention.

Care and staff: Clinical and caregiving strengths include attentive nurses, engaged aides, and staff who integrate residents into daily life. Several accounts highlight proactive infection-protection practices and dignity-preserving care. At the same time, reviewers raised operational concerns such as intermittent delays in responding to urgent calls and occasional gaps in communicating clinical details (for example, the content of physician visits) to families. Leadership instability and turnover were also mentioned as a recurring administrative theme that can affect continuity.

Dining and services: Dining is a clear strength — chef-prepared meals and a restaurant-like dining room are repeatedly praised, along with availability of breakfast throughout the day and snacks/refreshments. Families appreciate the willingness to accommodate dietary preferences and guest dining. Some residents asked for greater variety (more salads, seasonal fruit, homemade-style dishes). Ancillary services such as laundry (including folding/putting away), apartment cleaning, and transportation receive positive comments, though housekeeping execution appears uneven across units.

Activities and community life: The community offers a robust calendar of activities, including game nights, movie nights, outings (sporting events, parks), and family-oriented events around holidays. Activity coordination is described as engaging and contributes to resident socialization and well-being. The environment is frequently called homey and welcoming, with well-kept lawns, attractive décor, and common spaces that support social interaction.

Facilities and cleanliness: Common areas and grounds are generally described as clean and well-maintained. However, a pattern of sanitation and housekeeping inconsistencies emerges at the apartment level: reviewers cited dust, stains on furnishings, unclean refrigerators, and perishable items left in units. These items point to variable performance in room-level housekeeping and food-storage practices rather than a universal facility-wide failure.

Management and financial matters: Contract terms such as month-to-month occupancy with 30-day notice are attractive to some families. At the same time, reviewers expressed concerns about annual rate increases and overall affordability for budget-sensitive residents; the facility does not accept Medicare, which further affects payer options. More serious administrative issues were also mentioned, including contract and refund disputes and leadership turnover; these comments included allegations of unresolved billing/contract problems and, in at least one instance, legal action to recover funds.

Notable pattern and recommendation: The dominant pattern is of a community that excels in person-centered caregiving, dining, and social programming, providing a welcoming environment for many residents. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against operational caveats: inspect apartment-level cleanliness, clarify housekeeping and food-storage procedures, confirm emergency-response expectations, review contract and refund policies carefully, and verify payer acceptance relative to individual financial plans. A tour and direct conversations with leadership and current families would help assess whether The Landings of Sidney fits an individual’s clinical and financial needs.

The community uses safety technology like alarms and bracelets to help protect those at risk of wandering or confusion and has caregiving teams trained in Person Centered care, especially for memory support. The rooms get regular checks, and help is always nearby day or night. Community awards from U.S. News & World Report and the Best of Senior Living highlight years of trust and service, and the onsite staff keeps the setting friendly and family-like, with plenty of smiles and time to listen.
