    About Laurel Lake Retirement Community

Laurel Lake Retirement Community sits on a large, 150-acre scenic campus with woodlands and protected wetlands, offering seniors a place to live independently with options for extra help as needs grow, and folks can choose to live in one of 225 apartments or 66 villas with maintenance-free living, private kitchens, patio or balcony options, and plenty of different home styles. The campus has indoor common areas where residents can gather, dine in three on-site restaurants or a pub, and join in active campus life with more than 100 programs, like the Memory Lane music program, garden club, film club, book chats, art and writing classes, and special interest groups such as Bingo, Bridge, Scrabble, and a Newcomers Club, and if someone likes to move around, there's a big fitness center, certified trainers, an indoor pool, and a wellness center. Outdoors, the grounds have a 3-hole practice golf course, three stocked fishing lakes, six miles of nature trails, gardens, and sheltered courtyards, and residents can also use the chapel, woodworking and hobby shop, arts and crafts studio, library, and even guest suites for when family visits. Folks who want extra services can use the salon, gift shop, business center with internet, DVD center, ATM, and enjoy things like cable TV, linen service, laundry facilities, postal service, parking or villa options, storage, individually controlled heating and air, and meal plans with help from dining areas, while the main desk service is always around to help with needs or information. Laurel Lake has different levels of care, including independent living, assisted living with 59 apartments in Greenwood, and skilled nursing and rehab at the Crown Center, so residents can stay on campus as care needs increase, and there's also specialized care for memory loss and a hospice. There's always a staff presence, including help with moving from bed to wheelchair, monitoring blood sugar, standby assistance, basic incontinence support for those able to manage it, and 24-hour emergency call systems, as well as transportation for errands or appointments. Security is on site around the clock, and medical services are available at the campus clinic and therapy center, so folks can feel safe and looked after. Residents can spend their days doing activities like art history lectures, academic enrichment, musical events, theater trips, and fitness classes, while also having the freedom to enjoy walks on the nature trails or fishing at the lake. Laurel Lake uses a Life Care model for financial security, is a not-for-profit community, and offers virtual tours for those curious, so there's a range of ways to see what life is like before making a decision.
