    Longtime resident praises but warns

I lived here for nearly 20 years - beautiful facility, great neighbors, lots of activities, Veale Wellness Center on campus and dinner is included; the care and reputation are excellent and it gave us what we hoped for. It's pricey, evenings feel understaffed and sometimes dirty. Biggest downside: my family had to fight automatic rent withdrawals after a resident's death, refunds only payable to the ESTATE, a $200 processing fee, and Ohio estate-banking hurdles that made reclaiming money difficult. Worth looking into if you can afford it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive on community life, amenities, and long-term resident satisfaction while revealing significant administrative and operational concerns that prospective residents or families should investigate further.

On the positive side, multiple reviewers emphasize that the community is a very good place to live. Specific highlights include included dinner service, an active social environment described as "busier than before we came here," and a wide range of activities that contribute to residents feeling engaged. The Veale Wellness Center on campus is singled out as a strong amenity, reinforcing the sense that health and wellness programming is available on-site. Several comments point to a beautiful facility and grounds and note a generally strong reputation for the care provided; one reviewer’s ~20-year residency is an important signal of long-term satisfaction and stability.

Care quality and staff impressions are mixed. While the community has an "excellent reputation for the care that they provide" according to some reviewers, others report troubling operational issues: understaffing in the evenings and a low staff presence are specifically mentioned, along with reports of dirtiness. Those negative accounts are stark — one reviewer uses the word "horrible" — so while many residents appear happy with daily life and services, there is a nontrivial subset reporting unacceptable conditions or inconsistent staffing levels. This creates a split picture where routine life, activities, and amenities may be excellent for many residents, but quality of care and environmental maintenance might vary by shift or area.

A recurring and significant theme concerns administrative and billing practices following a resident’s death. Reviews describe automatic rent withdrawals continuing after death, difficulties obtaining refunds, and refunds being issued payable only to the resident’s estate rather than to an individual. One reviewer highlights additional complexity arising from Ohio estate banking rules and notes a $200 processing fee related to refunds. These are specific, actionable issues: they imply that families may face extra paperwork, delays, fees, and legal/banking hurdles after a resident passes away. Because these problems involve finances and estate processes, they represent more than a mere inconvenience and could be an unexpected burden for survivors or executors.

Affordability is another mixed area: while one review mentions the community as "beautiful" it also lists "affordability/price barrier," indicating cost may exclude some prospective residents. Combined with the strong amenities and wellness offerings, this suggests the community may be seen as higher-end by some, producing value for those who can afford it but being out of reach for others.

In summary, Nason Center Of Breckenridge Village appears to offer a vibrant, attractive living environment with meaningful amenities (dining, activities, wellness center) and evidence of long-term resident satisfaction. However, prospective residents and their families should probe staffing patterns (particularly evening coverage), cleanliness standards, and the facility’s policies and procedures around billing and estate settlement. The post-death billing/automatic withdrawal issues, refunds payable only to estates, the $200 processing fee, and the noted Ohio estate banking complexity are important, specific concerns to raise with management and to verify in written contract terms before committing. Balancing the strong lifestyle and wellness positives against these operational and administrative negatives will give a clearer picture for any decision-maker.

Nason Center looks after transportation to doctor's appointments, errands, and even faith-based services, and there are devotional services onsite and offsite for those who want them. The staff works on communication skills, using steady eye contact, slow speech, and warmth, especially for anyone with memory issues, and they make a point to organize inclusive holiday events and group activities to keep everyone connected, helping people keep their independence as long as possible but stepping in for reminders, daily routines, and appointments when needed.

Memory care gets special attention, with the I'm Still Here® program from the Hearthstone Institute marking Nason Center as a Memory Care Center of Excellence, where the environment aims to reduce stress and agitation among residents, and there's a strong focus on offering meaningful activities matched to each person's skills and interests. The community as a whole emphasizes dignity and friendly support, and the property comes with maintenance-free living, resort-style perks, book rooms, and comfortable, wheelchair-accessible areas, as well as individualized climate controls and in-room cable TV included, so adjusting to life here is a bit easier. All in all, Nason Center Of Breckenridge Village stands as a place that values letting people age in place while giving real support, safe surroundings, flexible care, and ways to keep both body and mind as healthy as can be, with staff always available, extra activities to fit all interests, and a community where friendships and dignity matter.
