    Compassionate, clean facility; excellent food

I watched my mother receive exceptional, compassionate care - the staff treated us like family and even sat with her at the end. The facility is spotless, the food (with regular baked goodies, snacks and holiday gifts) is excellent, and communication was proactive and respectful. I highly recommend Neighborhoods.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment The collected reviews present a uniformly positive perception of The Neighborhoods at Brookview. Reviewers repeatedly characterize the facility as providing exceptional care, and several highlight a familial, compassionate atmosphere created by the staff. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend the community and use words such as "highly recommend," "excellent facility," and "exceptional" to describe their experiences. No explicit negative comments or complaints appear in the provided summaries, which itself is a notable pattern in this dataset.

Care quality and end-of-life support Care quality is a dominant theme: reviewers emphasize "exceptional care" and specific compassionate actions, including staff sitting with residents during their final hours and providing accommodating support during end-of-life situations. These anecdotes indicate that clinical and personal care extend beyond routine tasks to include emotional presence and family-focused support. One reviewer specifically notes that staff sat with their mother at the end, and others mention staff being "excellent with dad and family," which supports a picture of personalized, hands-on caregiving and strong palliative or comfort-oriented practices.

Staff, communication, and management Staff behavior and communication are repeatedly praised. Reviewers describe staff as treating residents and families like family, being kind, and proactively communicating — relaying information about changes in condition and keeping families informed. The term "accommodating" appears in the context of end-of-life care and family interactions, suggesting responsiveness to family needs and requests. Additionally, one summary identifies the facility as "the best to work in," implying positive staff morale or workplace culture, which can correlate with better resident care and lower staff turnover. The combination of proactive communication and compassionate responsiveness suggests effective management and nursing leadership practices that prioritize both resident dignity and family involvement.

Facilities, cleanliness, and reputation Several reviewers mention "exceptional cleanliness" and describe the facility as "respectable" and well-regarded. These comments indicate that the physical environment is maintained to a high standard and contributes positively to families' impressions. The repetition of terms like "excellent facility" across reviews reinforces a strong reputation in both care and upkeep.

Dining, activities, and resident experience Food and resident comforts are noted positively: reviewers praise the food and mention "baked goodies regularly," as well as snacks being available for residents and visitors. Social offerings are highlighted by mentions of Christmas parties and gifts for residents, pointing to an active social calendar and attention to seasonal or celebratory programming. Providing snacks for visitors as well as residents indicates attention to hospitality and family-centered touches that enhance the visitation experience.

Notable patterns and limitations The dominant pattern across all summaries is consistently high praise for care, staff compassion, cleanliness, food, and social programming. The absence of any negative remarks in this sample is notable; while it indicates strong satisfaction among these reviewers, it also limits the ability to identify areas for improvement or occasional challenges. Because the input consists exclusively of positive summaries, analysis cannot assess potential weaknesses such as wait times, cost, clinical issues not mentioned, or variability in staff performance across shifts.

Conclusion In sum, the reviews paint The Neighborhoods at Brookview as a compassionate, well-managed community with exceptional cleanliness, strong family-focused care (including notable end-of-life support), good dining and regular treats, active social programming, and positive staff culture. Families report clear, proactive communication and accommodations during sensitive times. The consistent high praise and multiple recommendations suggest strong overall satisfaction; however, the uniformly positive input means that potential concerns or areas for improvement are not visible in this dataset and would require a broader sample of feedback to identify.

    About The Neighborhoods at Brookview

The Neighborhoods at Brookview sits along Yorkshire Drive near Brookings Hospital and Brookhaven Estates, offering a wide range of care options all under one roof, so folks can get skilled nursing, short-term rehab, long-term care, memory support, and both palliative and hospice care, and there's a Transitional Care Unit for elders who need a little extra help recovering from surgery, illness, or injury before heading back home. The place holds 79 certified beds and is licensed by the State of South Dakota Department of Health, with services covered by Medicare and Medicaid, and it's got a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, plus several honors showing a history of good healthcare. Staff provide help with everything from daily chores like bathing, dressing, and medication, to full nursing care with a 12-16 hour skilled nurse presence and a 24-hour emergency call system, and there's always someone ready for transfers or help for folks with limited mobility, so families get some peace of mind.

The community is designed around a Town Center with a chapel, library, salon, country store, and café, so people have spaces to visit, talk, and relax, and outside, there are gardens, courtyards, patio areas, picnic spots, and walking paths to enjoy some fresh air or keep up with gardening. Residents can join in on social and recreational activities, use the arts and activity rooms, visit the movie theater, and pick from resident-run or staff-planned events, which helps everyone stay connected and active. Fitness rooms and scheduled physical activities let folks work on their strength and balance, and therapy services like physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy happen right on site, so people don't need to travel far for basic rehab needs.

The dining room serves restaurant-style meals and handles special diets, and staff help with meal prep, cleaning, and laundry, while private rooms come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and telephone, with some rooms furnished if needed, making it easier for new residents to settle in. There's a mix of studio room layouts, and a big focus is on creating a comfortable, homelike feeling, so residents have access to shared living rooms, kitchen and dining areas, patios, and gardens, and if someone is part of the Bethel Community or needs assisted living, those services are available too. A day care program is offered for the elderly, along with adult day services and short-term respite care to help out family caregivers.

The Neighborhoods at Brookview is non-profit and part of a larger Continuing Care Retirement Community, so people can move through different levels of care as their needs change, and there's also a strong resident and family council to help solve problems or make suggestions for improvements. Transportation and parking are provided for errands and medical visits, with extra support from nearby health facilities like Brookings Hospital, so emergency, lab, imaging, and respiratory services are close by if needed. Brookview aims to treat every resident with respect, supporting dignity and quality of life, and tours are welcomed so new folks can meet staff, see the spaces, and get a feel for life in the community before making any decisions.
