    Compassionate staff, clean, effective care

I'm very happy with the care my mother receives here - staff are caring, attentive and genuinely compassionate, and the director of nurses and management are responsive. The building is warm and clean, there are lots of activities, excellent in-house meals (Thanksgiving was amazing), and rehab and therapy were effective; Medicare covered the costs. I recommend this friendly, well-run place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The facility is described as a welcoming, well-maintained nursing center with a strong emphasis on resident engagement and rehabilitation. Reviewers highlight compassionate, attentive staff and visible nursing leadership; families often characterize the environment as caring and comfortable. Clinical rehabilitation services, particularly physical therapy, are noted as effective for walker-assisted recovery, and short-term stays are commonly billed to Medicare without out-of-pocket cost for eligible patients.

Care and staff: Reviewers emphasize the staff’s friendliness and willingness to check in with residents. Nursing leadership is described as approachable and involved, and many families report positive interactions with aides and therapists. Communication responsiveness is generally portrayed as good when families contact the facility. These accounts suggest consistent strengths in day-to-day caregiving and therapy delivery.

Dining and activities: Dining receives strong positive remarks — meals are prepared in-house and special-event meals (for example, holiday dinners) are highlighted as high quality. The facility offers a robust activities program with frequent daily options and staff who assist residents to participate and travel to events. These features support social engagement and mealtime satisfaction for residents.

Facilities and management: The physical environment is characterized as clean and pleasing, and management presence is noted as a positive factor in overall operations. Families describe the atmosphere as loving and supportive, reflective of a stable administrative approach and attentive housekeeping standards.

Notable patterns and areas for clarification: Several reviewers described losses or misplacement of personal items (clothing, blankets, assistive devices such as hearing aids), and shared-room accommodations were mentioned. These details point to operational gaps in personal-property handling, laundry labeling/accountability, and inventory controls for assistive devices and valuables, as well as limited single-occupancy options. Prospective residents and families may wish to ask the facility about its procedures for labeling and tracking belongings, laundry protocols, private-room availability, and safeguards for assistive devices during intake and admission planning.

Bottom line: Oaks Nursing Center presents as a strong option for families prioritizing compassionate caregiving, active programming, effective short-term rehabilitation, and high-quality dining. To make an informed placement decision, visitors should confirm policies on rooming options and personal-property management and discuss specific safeguards for valuables and assistive devices with staff.

    About Oaks Nursing Center

Oaks Nursing Center sits over on West Jackson Street in Burnet, Texas, and has been doing its work for several years, taking care of people who need more medical support after surgery, illness, or injury, or who just need more help with daily life as they get older. The place is known for its skilled nursing staff who stay on-site around the clock, always ready to help with medication, physical care, and the sort of support that can ease a person's worries. The facility puts special focus on personal care, making sure everyone gets a plan that fits their own health goals, whether they're working to get back on their feet with physical, occupational, or speech therapy, or they're there for long-term help. Oaks Nursing Center has a rehabilitation center where the dedicated clinical team helps residents regain strength and independence, and their nurses, social worker, and Director of Nursing all work together to coordinate care and make sure folks feel comfortable-like they belong. Short-term stays for respite care are available, offering families a chance to rest while knowing their loved one is in good hands, and the center supports people both coming out of the hospital and those who need ongoing help, offering post-acute care and long-term stay options. There's a warm, calm feeling around the place, and the staff really try to make sure people feel safe, well-cared-for, and supported emotionally. Services cover everything from equipment help when someone's getting ready to go home to arranging therapy sessions and making sure benefits are explained by the office staff, and they do accept Medicare, Medicaid, major insurance, and private pay, so there's some flexibility on that front. Folks have recognized Oaks Nursing Center for quality service and patient satisfaction, and in a small town like Burnet, it stands out as a reliable place for seniors needing extra support, a spot where people can focus on either getting better or living as comfortably as possible for as long as they need.
