    Hands-on compassionate care, highly recommended

I placed my mom at Miramar Home Care and it has been a blessing. The owners are hands-on, staff are compassionate and attentive, and she receives one-on-one, 24/7 care with excellent wound/pain management and nutritious home-cooked meals in an immaculate, family-like home. Communication is prompt and reassuring, mom is clean, comfortable, and genuinely happy - we have real peace of mind. I highly recommend Miramar for anyone wanting loving, top-notch personalized care (small home setting may not suit everyone).

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Miramar Home Care are overwhelmingly positive and emphasize a small, family-run home that delivers attentive, compassionate, and clinically competent care. The dominant themes are individualized, one-on-one attention; very high standards of cleanliness and home presentation; strong owner involvement; and strong clinical outcomes for residents with complex needs. Most reviewers describe the staff as loving, responsive, and respectful, often using words like "family," "home-like," and "blessed" to describe the environment.

Care quality and clinical outcomes: A large portion of reviewers highlight top-tier clinical care — excellent wound care, timely medication management, effective pain and anxiety control, and successful coordination with hospice. Several concrete positive outcomes are reported: a resident off a feeding tube, improved mobility (walking with a walker), improved color and overall responsiveness, and absence of bed sores. Reviewers frequently credit the staff for daily grooming, clean linens and clothing, and attentive bedside presence. The small resident load and hands-on caregivers are repeatedly noted as enabling these clinical successes.

Staff and management: Miramar is described repeatedly as a family-run operation, commonly naming the owners (Laura and Rueben) and noting their strong involvement, knowledge of state/local policies, and personable approach. Communication to families is consistently praised — frequent updates, prompt callbacks, and willingness to work through language barriers. Staff are characterized as compassionate, proactive, and trustworthy; multiple reviews call out dignity-preserving care and advocacy on behalf of residents. The presence of attentive, lived-in ownership (owners live upstairs) is cited as a benefit by many families who felt reassured and informed.

Facilities and atmosphere: The home environment is a recurring strength: immaculate, fresh-smelling, newly carpeted in places, nicely furnished private rooms or shared-room options, large bathrooms, landscaped front yard, plants and pets, and an overall calm, soothing atmosphere. Accessibility features and a secure alarm system are noted. The small, intimate scale is consistently described as a positive — residents participate in family activities and receive individualized attention that larger institutions often cannot provide. Home-cooked meals, often described as nutritious and lovingly prepared (including puréed or organic options), contribute to residents' satisfaction and improved intake.

Dining and daily life: Meals are repeatedly praised for quality and homelike preparation; reviewers note attention to dietary needs (pureeing to maintain intake) and healthy ingredients. Daily grooming, clean clothing, and a tidy living environment are frequent points of praise. That said, a few reviewers mention a relative lack of formal activities or structured programming — the setting emphasizes family and informal engagement over a robust activity calendar.

Pricing and policies: Reviews indicate transparent, all-inclusive pricing is a selling point for many families, with explicit examples provided: a private-room price cited around $4,700/month and a shared-room option around $3,000/month. Several reviewers felt the cost was justified by the level of one-on-one care and home-like environment. However, there are isolated complaints about billing disputes, refunds policy, and clothing loss, which suggest families should review contracts and policies carefully before committing.

Concerns and negative reports: While the majority of feedback is positive, there are meaningful concerns that prospective families should investigate. Several reviews raise safety issues: specific worries about male residents and night staff being located upstairs, and documented risk of residents who wander or are prone to escape attempts. There is at least one serious negative report alleging inconsistent care and violent behavior; another describes a perception that the operation felt business-focused rather than genuinely caring. Issues with clothing handling and refunds were mentioned by multiple reviewers. COVID-related visitation restrictions affected some families' experiences (inability to visit before a death), which was a source of distress but not a reflection on day-to-day care quality.

Patterns and recommendations for prospective families: The dominant pattern is of a small, tightly run home that provides compassionate, dignified, clinically competent care with strong family involvement and excellent cleanliness. It appears well suited to people who benefit from personal attention, continuity of caregivers, hospice integration, and a homelike atmosphere. The facility may be less appropriate for families worried about structured activities, or for residents with specific behavioral issues or high elopement risk unless safety measures are clearly confirmed. Given the isolated but serious negative reports (inconsistent care, accusations of violent conduct, billing/refund disputes, and safety concerns about staffing patterns), prospective families should: ask for references from current/past families, review staffing patterns and overnight supervision, clarify policies on clothing/possessions and refunds, inspect security measures for wandering residents, confirm the houses' procedures for handling behavioral incidents, and review contract terms about rates and included services.

Bottom line: Miramar Home Care receives consistent praise for outstanding, personalized caregiving in a clean, home-like setting with knowledgeable, hands-on owners. Many families report significant improvements in their loved ones' clinical and emotional status. However, because of several non-trivial complaints regarding safety, inconsistent care in at least one account, and administrative disputes, a careful, specific vetting process is advised before placement to ensure it is the right fit for a particular resident's needs and risk profile.

    About Miramar Home Care

Miramar Home Care sits in a quiet house with room for just six residents, run by Ruben and Laura Dorca, who live on-site and have been caring for seniors for 24 years between them, and you can tell they make sure everyone feels like family, with higher staff-to-resident numbers than you'll often find in traditional nursing homes, which means help comes quickly for things like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, walking around, and eating. Caregivers prepare meals, including special diets like vegetarian or kosher, and help with laundry and housekeeping, so the place stays tidy, and everyone gets the food they need-plus there are house pets wandering about, which residents can pet or watch for company if they want. There's a full schedule of activities like games, music, and crafts to help folks feel engaged, plus some educational and spiritual activities, though the devotional services are offsite, and there's Wi-Fi and common indoor and outdoor areas for relaxing or talking with others. Residents get transportation if they need to go out, although that costs extra, and there's parking if someone drives or families visit. Care can be as light as occasional help all the way to constant care, including memory care for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, and hospice services for those nearing end of life, and the Dorca family works closely with nurses, therapists, and doctors who visit as needed. Companionship and homemaking services mean someone's always around, and the caregivers get to know residents' habits so they can follow a care plan based on what each person needs, all while trying to help folks be as independent as possible and make their own choices every day, so families hear regular updates about how their loved ones are doing, and everyone tries to make the place feel safe and friendly, like a real home. The showers are wheelchair accessible, and beautician services are available right there in the house, so nobody needs to go far for a haircut or a trim. Miramar Home Care has its state license as a Type B Assisted Living Facility, and it covers the whole range from letting independent folks go their own way with a little help, to giving one-on-one support for those who need it, and you can come take a tour to see the meals, meet the staff, and see daily life, which helps families decide if this small, home-style place matches what they're looking for.
