    Helpful staff, serious safety concerns

I live here and have mixed feelings. The staff are mostly professional, courteous and caring, the dining room is bright and the food is generally very good, and there's an active calendar (bingo, music, exercise, church, crafts). But I've seen serious problems: filthy conditions and dead bugs in the Memory Care wing, painted-over sprinkler heads and black residue from vents, wanderguard failures and even an unauthorized transfer - management has been indifferent despite complaints. Rooms range from large and sunny to dark, cold or shared with only a privacy curtain and non-ADA bathrooms; occasional short-staffing and rude employees happen. I'm grateful for many caregivers, but I'd advise caution and a thorough visit before deciding.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these review summaries is mixed, with a clear split between positive comments about day-to-day resident life (food, activities, and many frontline staff) and very serious, specific complaints about cleanliness, safety, management, and lapses in care—especially in the Memory Care wing.

Care quality and staff behavior: Many reviewers praise the caregiving staff as professional, courteous, kind, and thoughtful. Several accounts describe staff who engage residents, offer suggestions, and respond to incidents. Therapy services and attentive day-to-day care are cited positively by multiple reviewers. However, these positive impressions are counterbalanced by strongly worded reports of neglect and unprofessional behavior: at least one reviewer describes a staff member refusing to help, being on her phone, and leaving a resident in unsanitary conditions. There are also mentions of occasional short-staffing, which some reviewers link to gaps in care.

Facilities, cleanliness, and safety: Facilities impressions are inconsistent. Some reviewers describe the facility as very clean and well-maintained, with bright dining areas and rooms that have good natural light and storage. Contrasting that, several severe complaints focus on the Memory Care wing: filthy conditions, dead bugs in rooms, and an overall 'horrible filth' characterization. There are alarming safety and maintenance allegations—painted-over sprinkler heads, black residue from vents, and statements calling the situation a fire hazard. These are significant red flags and indicate possible systemic maintenance and compliance issues in at least part of the facility.

Security and resident placement concerns: Multiple reviewers report security failures that directly affect resident safety: doors propped open without alarm, wanderguard malfunctions, and at least one alleged unauthorized transfer to Memory Care. Those specifics suggest both procedural and oversight weaknesses. Combined with the cleanliness and maintenance complaints, these security issues substantially heighten concerns for vulnerable residents, especially those in Memory Care or with mobility and cognitive impairments.

Dining, activities, and resident life: Food and activities are clear strengths repeatedly mentioned. Reviewers frequently note very good meals and a large, pleasant dining space with many windows. The facility appears to have a robust activities program: bingo, music and musical events, church services, crafts, exercise classes, dominoes, card games, birthday parties, and other engagement opportunities. These offerings are described as engaging and appreciated by many residents and families.

Rooms and accessibility: Room descriptions vary. Some residents are in double-occupancy rooms with two large windows, privacy curtains, and large closets; others mention single rooms with shared bathrooms or two-to-a-room layouts. There is at least one complaint regarding non-ADA-compliant bathrooms and wheelchair accessibility, which is an important consideration for prospective residents with mobility limitations.

Management and administrative concerns: Several reviewers express frustration with management, describing indifference to complaints and alleging severe mismanagement. High charges are also repeatedly mentioned alongside these complaints, which compounds dissatisfaction when families believe they are not receiving adequate care or safe conditions for the price. Some reviewers report having filed complaints without satisfactory resolution.

Patterns and takeaway: The reviews show a pattern of polarized experiences. For many residents, daily life appears positive—good food, active programming, friendly caregivers, and pleasant dining spaces. For others, especially those connected to the Memory Care wing, there are critical allegations of neglect, poor cleanliness, maintenance failures, and safety lapses. Because the negative reports include concrete and serious issues (safety equipment allegedly tampered with or neglected, pest sightings, unauthorized transfers, and staff neglect), these outweigh routine complaints and should prompt careful scrutiny.

If considering this facility, the reviews suggest verifying current conditions directly: tour the specific unit of interest (including Memory Care), ask to see recent inspection reports, confirm wanderguard and door-alarm functioning, inquire about cleaning protocols and pest control, review staffing levels and procedures for incident response, and get clarity on billing and transfers between care levels. The facility offers clear strengths in dining and programming, but the documented safety, cleanliness, and management concerns—especially in Memory Care—are significant and merit detailed follow-up before placement.
