    Caring staff, good but inconsistent

I placed my parents at Celeste Care of Llano and overall I'm pleased: the owner and staff are caring, professional and attentive, the home-like setting and location are great, studios are spacious, meals are adequate, and they even helped with finances and supported us after our loss. I would recommend it for early-stage memory care, but be aware of occasional staffing/communication issues, mixed staff friendliness, limited memory-care training and activities for less-mobile residents, and a security-system access concern.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with strong emphasis on the quality of interpersonal care, a warm, home-like environment, and attentive staff. Many reviewers repeatedly highlight that the staff are caring, compassionate, and responsive — often described as going "above and beyond," showing love and support, and continuing to check on families after a resident's death. This demonstrates a high level of emotional support and individualized attention, particularly important for assisted living and memory care settings. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the community for early-stage memory care and praise specific staff members and nurses for their kindness and professionalism.

The facility itself is described as a small community, which reviewers see as a benefit: residents and families appreciate the intimate atmosphere and the sense of being known by staff. Unit-level features called out positively include small studios that nonetheless have ample space, roomy bathrooms, and good closet/storage space. These physical attributes, combined with the home-like feel, contribute to family members reporting that their loved ones were pleased and comfortable there.

Programmatic offerings get mixed but generally favorable mentions. Activities such as arts and crafts, games, and group activities are available and appreciated; however, reviewers note a gap in programming for less-mobile residents, indicating activities could be more inclusive or better adapted for limited-mobility participants. Dining is described as "good" or "adequate," suggesting it meets basic expectations without being a standout. Memory-care provision is praised for compassion and individualized attention, but there are recurring notes that some staff may lack advanced memory-care training, so the community may be best suited to early-stage memory impairment rather than advanced dementia requiring highly specialized interventions.

Management and operational themes are also prominent. Several reviews commend the owner and management — describing them as friendly, helpful with financial issues, and supportive of families. At the same time, concerns surface around communication and staffing. A number of reviewers cite poor or inconsistent communication with families and mixed experiences with staff friendliness, which suggests variability depending on shifts or individual employees. Staffing numbers and coverage were mentioned as issues in at least one review, which could affect continuity of care and responsiveness during busy periods. One specific operational concern raised is access to the security system, implying a need to review protocols or address family access anxieties.

In summary, the reviews portray Arbor House Assisted Living and Memory Care - Llano as a caring, small-scale community with many strengths in personal attention, compassionate memory care for earlier stages, and an owner/management team that engages positively with families. Physical accommodations in rooms are adequate and appreciated, and general activities and meals meet expectations. Primary areas for improvement are modernizing or maintaining the older facility, enhancing communication with families, ensuring consistent staff training in memory care, expanding activity options for less-mobile residents, and addressing staffing coverage and security-access concerns. Families seeking a warm, attentive environment—particularly for early-stage memory care—are likely to have a good experience, while those needing intensive, highly specialized memory-care services or robust, consistently communicative operations should inquire further about staff training, staffing levels, and management procedures before committing.
