    Compassionate staff, excellent care, spotless

I placed my mom at Changing Seasons and couldn't be more pleased - the staff (especially Domingo and the rehab team, Grace included) are compassionate, responsive, and go above and beyond. The facility is spotless and welcoming, meals are excellent, there are plenty of activities, and onsite PT/OT noticeably improved my mom's strength. The transition was easy and professional; I highly recommend this community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Changing Seasons are strongly mixed but lean positive in volume and detail. A majority of reviewers describe an excellent experience: they highlight compassionate, attentive staff; clear and frequent communication from leadership; smooth admissions; strong therapy and rehabilitation services; clean, renovated facilities; enjoyable dining; and an engaging calendar of activities. Many families explicitly say they would recommend the community and express gratitude for improvements in residents’ strength, comfort, and quality of life. However, a smaller number of reviews contain very serious and negative allegations (including neglect, pest problems, theft, racism, safety incidents, and claims about management misconduct). These negative reports are serious enough that they create a clear pattern of inconsistency across reviewers’ experiences and warrant careful scrutiny by prospective families.

Care quality and clinical services: Positive reviews consistently praise the caregiving team for being compassionate, patient, and hands-on. Several accounts call out specific staff (med techs, LVNs, RNs) for timely updates and effective care coordination. The facility’s therapy offerings receive repeated praise: onsite PT/OT, a rehab gym, and an identified PT (Grace) who is credited with improving residents’ mobility and strength. Families report individualized therapy and comprehensive care plans, and some describe notable functional improvements. These strengths suggest that clinical and rehabilitative services are a core asset for many residents.

Staff, leadership, and communication: Leadership receives frequent complimentary mentions, especially executive directors named Domingo and Matthew, described as helpful, communicative, responsive, and hands-on. Multiple reviews emphasize strong communication with families—quick responses, compassionate interactions, and a willingness to resolve concerns. At the same time, there are conflicting accounts: some reviewers report poor responsiveness (difficulty reaching staff by phone), staffing shortages, and management inaction. More severe allegations include claims that a director lied about care, accusations of drug use, and reports of racist or insulting behavior by staff. Because these negative claims are serious and come from multiple categories (safety, honesty, and professionalism), they create a notable dichotomy in reported leadership quality and staff conduct.

Facilities, cleanliness, dining and activities: Many reviewers describe the physical environment as clean, recently renovated, and welcoming—holiday decorations and a warm, family-like atmosphere are often noted. Housekeeping and concierge services are praised; meal service is commonly described as hot, delicious, and of good quality (with coffee and attentive kitchen staff frequently mentioned). There is robust reporting of varied activities—Bingo, seasonal programming, and social events—that help residents stay engaged. Nevertheless, there are isolated but severe complaints: at least one report alleges roaches in beds/rooms and another labels the food as horrible. These outliers contrast sharply with the many positive accounts and point again to inconsistent experiences among residents.

Safety, theft, and serious allegations: Several reviewers raised very serious safety and ethical concerns. Reports include alleged neglect, safety incidents and assaults, theft of residents’ jewelry and watches with alleged inadequate follow-up (police involvement mentioned), and claims of racism or verbal abuse. These items are described strongly by the authors of those reviews and include accusations that management failed to act appropriately. Given the gravity of these claims, they should be considered allegations requiring verification; they are not supported uniformly across the reviews, but their presence is a significant red flag for prospective residents and families.

Patterns, variability, and recommended due diligence: The aggregated pattern is one of good-to-excellent care for many residents alongside a smaller number of very negative, sometimes severe accounts. This suggests variability in staff performance, incident response, and possibly unit- or shift-level differences in quality. Prospective families should weigh the generally positive themes (strong rehab, attentive staff, clean environment, good dining, engaging activities, and praised leadership) against the isolated but serious allegations. Recommended due diligence steps include: touring the facility multiple times (at different times of day), asking for incident and staffing reports, inquiring about pest control measures, theft-prevention and security protocols, staff turnover and background checks, complaint escalation procedures, and documentation of corrective actions for any reported incidents. Also consider checking licensing and inspection reports from state regulatory agencies and asking the facility for references from current families.

Bottom line: Changing Seasons receives substantial, specific praise for caregiving, therapy services, cleanliness, dining, and a family-oriented atmosphere, with several staff and leaders named positively. However, the presence of isolated yet serious allegations (neglect, pests, theft, racism, assaults, and management misconduct) introduces measurable risk and inconsistency. Families should take the positive reports seriously but also perform targeted checks and ask direct questions about the specific negative issues raised in these reviews before making a placement decision.
