    Caring staff; management needs improvement

I have mixed feelings: the family-owned place offers engaging staff, active programs (bingo, outdoor movies, trips to EAA, Timber Rattlers and Packers camp), homemade meals, cookouts and compassionate caregivers who keep residents involved. But I also witnessed unprofessional administration and instances of staff disrespect that compromised residents’ dignity — management needs to fix that.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive on lifestyle and community engagement while raising serious concerns about administration and consistency of care. On the positive side, reviewers repeatedly highlight Darboy Assisted Living's family-owned character and a wide range of social and recreational programming. Residents appear to be well engaged; organized activities such as bingo, outdoor movies, and frequent outings to local attractions (EAA events, Timber Rattlers games, and Packers training camp trips) are consistently mentioned. These offerings suggest a strong emphasis on resident quality of life, social stimulation, and community connection.

Dining and social gatherings receive consistent praise. Homemade meals, cookouts, and family picnics are noted as meaningful features, contributing to a homelike environment and opportunities for families to be involved. Reviewers perceive the staff who deliver these services as compassionate and considerate in many instances. Multiple comments point to caregivers who show empathy and teamwork, implying that day-to-day caregiving interactions can be warm and person-centered. The combination of active programming, thoughtfully prepared food, and social events is cited as adding value to residents' lives.

Despite these strengths, there are notable and recurring concerns about professionalism, respect, and care quality. Several reviews explicitly call out unprofessional behavior in the administration and instances where staff have been disrespectful. More worryingly, some reviewers state that residents have not always been treated with respect or dignity, and there are general concerns about the consistency of care quality. These negative reports contrast sharply with the praise for compassionate caregivers and effective operations, suggesting variability in staff behavior or uneven practices across shifts, roles, or tenure.

Management appears to be viewed in two conflicting ways across the reviews. On one hand, some reviewers credit diligent management and effective operations, citing teamwork and organizational strengths. On the other hand, claims of an unprofessional administration indicate either isolated leadership issues or inconsistent managerial oversight. This contradiction is an important pattern: the facility may have structural strengths in programming and operations but also suffer from leadership or cultural problems that permit lapses in professionalism and resident dignity.

Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a facility that excels at social programming, resident engagement, and creating a homelike atmosphere through meals and events, supported in many cases by compassionate caregivers and solid teamwork. However, prospective residents and families should pay close attention to reports about administration and respect for residents. The contrasting themes—strong life-enrichment activities and beloved caregivers versus reports of disrespect and administrative unprofessionalism—indicate variability that could materially affect an individual resident's experience. Where possible, families should follow up with direct questions about staff training, supervision, staff turnover, examples of how dignity and respect are ensured, and request to speak with current residents and families to get a clearer, up-to-date sense of consistency in care and professional standards.
