    Caring staff, beautiful grounds, pricey

I placed my dad-in-law here because of the beautiful, clean facility and gorgeous grounds. The staff - especially Kaitlynn and Liz - were compassionate, personable, and repeatedly went above and beyond, creating a family-like, homey atmosphere; the care quality gave our family real peace after his passing. Meals were healthy, tasty, and plentiful, activities (and interfaith chapel services) are regular. It's expensive, and I did notice occasional responsiveness issues (staff on phones) and a serious kitchen cleanliness problem that concerned me, but overall I highly recommend the place for the outstanding, caring team.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the staff, care quality, food, activities, and the facility’s aesthetic qualities. Many reviewers emphasize compassionate, personable staff who provide exceptional care and support. Several reviewers explicitly name staff members (Kaitlynn / Kaitlyn and Liz) as leaders who go above and beyond, and families describe peaceful and satisfactory experiences during end-of-life care. The majority of comments convey trust and appreciation for how residents are treated, and multiple reviewers directly recommend the community.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme is excellent, compassionate care. Reviews consistently describe staff as helpful, personable, and willing to go beyond basic duties. Named employees (Kaitlynn/Kaitlyn and Liz) are singled out for leadership and exceptional support, including assistance with a family member and comforting families during passing. These repeated references suggest strong individual staff performance and a culture of attentive caregiving. At the same time, there are a few notes about staff responsiveness—reports of staff being on the phone or delayed to assist—which point to occasional lapses in immediate attention despite the overall positive picture.

Facilities and surroundings: Multiple reviewers describe the community as beautiful, with gorgeous surroundings and nice apartments. Generally the facility is characterized as clean and well-kept by several reviewers. This contributes to a home-like atmosphere that many residents and families appreciate. However, there is a direct contradiction in the feedback: while some say the facility is clean, at least one reviewer makes a severe allegation of a “disgusting” kitchen with filth that should not be allowed to operate. That allegation is a serious outlier relative to other cleanliness statements and should be treated as a flagged concern requiring investigation rather than an established pattern based on the summarized reviews.

Dining: Food quality is frequently praised—reviewers mention healthy, tasty, and amazing meals, with some calling the meals great. Dining and kitchen staff are part of the positive experience for most comments. Again, this is complicated by the one explicit and extreme negative report about kitchen filth. Overall, the majority sentiment supports high-quality dining, but the hygiene allegation is significant and should be checked by management to confirm whether it reflects an isolated incident or a broader problem.

Activities, community, and spiritual life: The community offers regular, engaging activities and programming that contribute to a family-like, home atmosphere. Reviewers note plenty of activities and loyal residents who appreciate the social environment. Chapel services are available to all faiths, and spiritual services are mentioned positively, suggesting attention to residents’ religious or spiritual needs in an inclusive way.

Management, price, and patterns of concern: While staff and leadership receive praise, a few concerns are raised about responsiveness and the perception of occasional lax assistance. One practical concern mentioned by reviewers is cost—several comments describe the placement as expensive. The most notable negative pattern is the conflicting reports on kitchen cleanliness: most reviews speak positively about food and cleanliness, but the presence of at least one severe negative report about filth in the kitchen stands out and should prompt a direct inquiry by prospective residents or family members. In summary, the reviews portray Bay & Landing at Elkhart Lake as a well-regarded community with strong staff, good meals, attractive facilities, robust activities, and compassionate care. Prospective residents should weigh the generally positive staff and care feedback against concerns about cost and investigate the isolated but serious hygiene allegation and occasional responsiveness issues with facility management before making a decision.
