    Cozy home, delicious food, inconsistent

I'm a resident. The in-house chef serves really good meals, the facility is very clean with high ceilings, lots of activities (including a craft room) and a warm, cozy, home-like atmosphere. Staff are mostly friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate, but consistency is a problem - some staff are awesome while others were rude, compared me to a previous worker, or once failed to give proper meals. It's pricier than competitors, though management was polite and responsive when I raised concerns.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is mixed but leans positive in several important areas: dining, facility quality, and atmosphere. Multiple reviewers highlight an in-house chef and consistently good food, which is reinforced by comments about a cozy, home-like environment and very clean facilities. The physical space is noted as pleasant and somewhat upscale relative to competitors (for example, higher ceilings and a neat, comfortable interior). Activities are available, including a craft room, which supports resident engagement and contributes to the homelike feeling many reviewers mention.

Care quality and staff performance are the most pronounced and divided theme. A substantial number of reviews praise staff as caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, and welcoming — reviewers explicitly use terms like "caring staff," "knowledgeable staff," and "compassion for residents." Those accounts suggest that when residents interact with experienced, attentive caregivers the experience is positive and reassuring to families. At the same time, there are clear and consequential reports of inconsistent behavior: some reviewers specifically describe poor treatment, lack of care, rude staff, and instances where residents were not provided proper meals. One unusual but notable complaint is that some staff have compared current residents or processes to a previous worker, which families perceived as unprofessional. These contradictions indicate variability in staff training, supervision, or culture: many employees are strong, but negative behaviors are significant enough to recur in reviews.

Dining and meal service are generally praised because of the in-house chef and "really good food," but the positive comments are counterbalanced by at least one report that residents were not given proper meals. This split underscores a pattern present elsewhere in the reviews: the facility appears to offer high-quality amenities and services overall, yet execution can be uneven. Cleanliness and the physical environment are consistently positive points — "really clean facilities," a "cozy home-like atmosphere," and features like higher ceilings are repeatedly noted — suggesting the facility invests in maintaining a pleasant living space.

Activities and social offerings are another strength highlighted by reviewers. Availability of activities and a craft room are specifically cited, indicating a programmatic effort to engage residents. These elements reinforce the recurring description of a warm, homelike setting and are likely contributors to the reviewers who categorize the facility as a "top consideration." The presence of purposeful programming plus comfortable communal spaces aligns with many families’ priorities for senior living.

Management and responsiveness appear positively perceived in at least one review, which calls the manager "polite and understanding." That comment, coupled with the coexistence of strong and weak staff interactions, suggests management may be approachable and willing to address concerns, but that systemic issues with consistency remain. The other consistent negative theme is cost: reviewers note the facility is priced higher than competitors. For prospective residents and families, the higher cost must be weighed against the clear strengths (chef-driven dining, cleanliness, atmosphere, activities) and the inconsistency risk in direct caregiving interactions.

In summary, Touchstone Living Center receives strong praise for its physical environment, dining program, activities, and many compassionate, knowledgeable staff members. However, the most important caution from these reviews is variability in staff behavior and care delivery: alongside glowing accounts are specific and serious complaints about poor treatment, missed meals, and rude or unprofessional conduct. Price is another clear concern, as the facility appears to cost more than nearby alternatives. Prospective residents should consider the facility's high-quality amenities and homelike setting but also probe staff training, supervision, meal-service protocols, and specific measures management takes to ensure consistent, respectful care across all shifts and employees.

    About Touchstone Living Center

Touchstone Living Center sits in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and is a small assisted living facility with room for up to 26 residents, offering both assisted living and memory care services, and what folks will find here is a setting with spacious private or semiprivate rooms that come ready with furniture and have telephone and cable TV hookups, while community spaces include a dining room, reading room, hot tub, sauna, fitness room, arts room, garden, and walking paths for those who want to get outside for a stroll or enjoy some fresh air. There's a beauty shop, plus a spa with hydrotherapy, and services bring mobile barbers or hairdressers to the residents, and all through the week the staff put together movie nights, art projects, music programs, exercise classes, and social nights, sometimes even pet therapy and board games, and the residents themselves help run some activities, which helps keep daily life interesting. The caregivers and nurses stay on site 24 hours a day to help with bathing, dressing, grooming, medication management, and support for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents, and there's emergency alert and call systems in every room. Touchstone Living Center has experience caring for people with mild cognitive problems as well as dementia, providing a secure environment to prevent wandering, and they're licensed by Wisconsin's Department of Social Services (license ID 11312). Meals see attention too, since three homemade, chef-prepared meals get served each day, with extra snacks available, and kitchen staff prepare menus that can be changed to meet special diets like those sensitive to allergies, diabetes, or raised blood pressure, and families can ask about special dietary changes. Laundry and housekeeping happen regularly to keep rooms clean and safe, and accommodations here are wheelchair-friendly throughout, making movement easier for those who use walkers, canes, or chairs. Resident travel to doctor appointments, shopping, and religious services can get arranged, which families sometimes appreciate. There's help for new residents with moving in and getting settled, and inside tours are available for those who want to visit before deciding, where you can see how the days run, the meals served, and activities on offer. Touchstone can accept private pay, long-term care insurance, or use Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits; costs for assisted living start at $3,000 a month but will vary based on needs, amenities, or room choice, and pricing is all-inclusive with flexible options available. Touchstone Living Center has a 3.0 rating based on 4 reviews and is regularly checked for licensing status and quality through state inspections and outreach programs. Staff here are trained to help residents keep their independence as long as possible, offering services from basic assistance with daily needs to memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and a range of leisure activities tries to make days meaningful, comfortable, and safe for everyone who calls this place home.
