    Excellent dementia care, caring staff

I placed my parent at Silverado and have been very pleased - caring, attentive staff (Heather, Nicole, Katie), expert memory/dementia care, a clean bright, pet-friendly community, excellent meals and outstanding activities that genuinely improved quality of life. Administration is professional and communicative, staff are warm and engaged, and I have real peace of mind knowing my loved one is well cared for. I did hear isolated reports of misconduct from others, so ask questions about oversight, but overall I highly recommend Silverado.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews present a strongly positive picture of Silverado North Shore Memory Care Community with recurring praise focused on the facility environment, dining, activities, and specialized dementia care. Multiple reviewers describe the campus as gorgeous and bright — high ceilings, lots of natural light, multiple well-groomed courtyards, fresh flowers, and indoor animal features (birds, a fish tank) that contribute to a warm, home-like atmosphere. The community is frequently characterized as clean, inviting, and professionally run.

Care quality and memory-care expertise: A major, consistent theme is expertise in dementia and memory-care. Families report clear, comprehensive treatment plans, frequent updates, and care teams that understand and respond to challenging behaviors. Several reviews describe measurable, positive outcomes after transfer to Silverado — violent or aggressive outbursts controlled, mood improvements, increased social engagement, and even peaceful end-of-life experiences. Reviewers explicitly contrast Silverado’s capability with prior facilities that were not equipped to manage certain behaviors, indicating Silverado’s specialization makes a meaningful difference for many residents and families.

Staff, culture, and communication: Most reviewers praise the staff’s compassion, warmth, professionalism, and team spirit. Multiple staff members are named positively (Heather, Nicole, Katie), and many comments note camaraderie among staff and respectful, affectionate interactions with residents (smiles, hugs). Families report frequent communication, clear care plans, and a general sense of trust and peace knowing loved ones are well cared for. The community is described as family-like and welcoming to relatives, which supports ongoing family involvement and peace of mind. However, there are isolated but notable negative comments: a small number of reviews describe staff as unfriendly or “like prison guards,” mention a generally bad energy from some employees, and a few reviewers explicitly say they would not recommend the community. These negative perceptions are in the minority but are significant because they relate to staff demeanor and culture.

Facilities, dining, and activities: Dining receives detailed praise — bright dining rooms with tablecloths and linen napkins, varied menus, dishes described as tasty and not overly salted, limited starch choices when appropriate, and special, highly-regarded holiday meals (notably an exceptional Thanksgiving dinner). Dining is complemented by musical accompaniment and weekly live music. The activities program is another strong point: reviewers note frequent outings, a well-run annual carnival, many activities for diverse interests, and an energetic activities team. These elements consistently contribute to residents’ quality of life, social engagement, and family satisfaction.

Administration and organization: Multiple reviewers call out professional, organized administration and praise the community’s cleanliness and hospitality. The facility’s layout with many relaxation areas and open spaces is viewed positively for both residents and visiting family members. Several family members explicitly say that the community’s values align with their expectations for compassion, inclusion, and person-centered care.

Notable concerns and patterns to investigate: While overwhelmingly positive, a few reviews raise serious concerns that should not be overlooked. There are allegations of employee theft and staff misconduct that one reviewer explicitly warns about; such claims are serious and, if accurate, represent breaches of trust that families must consider when choosing a provider. Other complaints are less severe but still important for prospective families: some people reported negative staff attitudes or low engagement from certain employees, an initial challenging transition for some residents, and limited availability of private suites. These complaints appear relatively infrequent compared with the volume of positive feedback but are salient because they relate directly to resident safety, dignity, and privacy.

Bottom line and guidance for families: The dominant pattern in reviews positions Silverado North Shore as a high-quality, specialized memory-care community that delivers strong clinical expertise, compassionate caregiving, excellent meals, and stimulating activities — all within an attractive, pet-friendly, and well-kept environment. Many families express relief and peace of mind after placement, citing both behavioral improvements and a sense of community. At the same time, the handful of reports about staff misconduct and unfriendly employees are serious red flags that warrant due diligence. Prospective families should tour the community, ask about staff hiring/screening and incident reporting procedures, clarify availability of private rooms or suites, inquire about transition support, and request references from current families. When balanced against the overwhelmingly positive reviews, Silverado appears to be a strong memory-care option for many residents, provided that families confirm the specific safety and privacy details that matter to them.
