    Happy with care, limited interaction

I stayed a year and am happy with the care. The staff are kind and make me feel appreciated, activities are great, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and in a walkable location - my only gripe was limited staff interaction; it was my third choice and not quite as pleasant as some other places.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is positive, with clear strengths in staff attitude, cleanliness, activities, and care quality. Reviewers repeatedly describe the rooms as pleasant and comfortable and emphasize that both the facility and rooms are kept clean. Several comments reflect satisfaction with care—one reviewer explicitly noted being happy with care during a year-long stay—indicating consistent, reliable clinical or daily care for residents.

Staff and care come across as a major strength. Multiple reviews highlight that staff make residents feel wanted, appreciated, and cared for; descriptors such as "great staff," "kind staff," and residents feeling appreciated appear several times. This suggests a warm, respectful culture among caregivers and frontline employees. The positive staff remarks are reinforced by direct statements of satisfaction with the quality of care and by mentions of long-term stays being satisfactory, which together point to both interpersonal warmth and competent care delivery.

Facilities and environment are also characterized positively. Rooms are described as pleasant and comfortable, and the facility is noted as clean. That consistent emphasis on cleanliness and comfortable living spaces is an important signal for prospective residents and families concerned with hygiene, comfort, and overall atmosphere. The location is another practical advantage: reviewers note the site is walkable to the assisted living building and is generally in a good location, which can be convenient for transfers, family visits, or access to services.

Social programming and activities are frequently praised. Reviews call out "great activities," and the tone implies programming that engages residents and contributes to a sense of appreciation and belonging. This consistent praise suggests an active social calendar and staff who prioritize resident engagement, which complements the positive interpersonal feedback about staff making residents feel wanted.

Areas of concern are limited but notable. A common negative theme is "limited staff interaction" reported by some reviewers; this suggests that while many residents experience attentive, warm staff, others perceive less interaction or availability. Another pattern is that a few reviewers regarded Woodside Oaks as a "third choice" or "not as pleasant as other facilities," indicating that for some people the facility does not stand out as the top option compared with alternatives in the area. These comments point to variability in expectations or experiences and may reflect differences in individual needs, staffing fluctuations, or comparisons to higher-tier facilities.

There is little or no specific feedback in these summaries about dining quality, administrative or management responsiveness, billing, therapy services, or medical outcomes beyond general satisfaction with care. If those areas are important to a prospective resident or family, they should be addressed with direct questions or a visit. Overall, the reviews portray Woodside Oaks as a clean, well-located community with comfortable rooms, warm and appreciative staff, strong activities, and generally good care, while also showing some variability in staff interaction and occasional comparisons unfavourable to other local options.

    About Woodside Oaks

Woodside Oaks, located in Ashwaubenon near Green Bay, sits on 18 park-like acres and offers independent senior living apartments for people aged 55 and older, set up so you don't have to worry about taking care of a house anymore, and you can find one or two prepared meals each day with laundry and housekeeping services included. The place is part of a bigger community run by Purple Door, LLC and a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so you'll see different levels of care available across the campus, with access to assisted living, memory care for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, skilled nursing, therapy, adult day care, and even home health options, letting folks move between services if their needs change, all without having to leave the community.

People who live at Woodside Oaks apartments get their own kitchens and appliances, but there's also a bright dining room with natural light and an outdoor patio, plus a café where residents stop for drinks, snacks, and desserts, and if someone likes to keep busy or social, there are spaces set aside for crafts, cards, movies, woodworking, and casual visits-someone here even carves whirligigs from linden wood, which people enjoy seeing. For spiritual support, there's a chapel on campus offering Lutheran and Catholic worship services and weekly Bible studies, and there's also an Alzheimer's Support Group for family caregivers. Community rooms include a library, computer and crafting area with a kitchenette, aviary, pub, and a game room, while outdoors you'll spot covered patios, a terrace with garden space, and landscaped walking areas where folks can relax or join others for fresh air.

Throughout the week, residents can go on scheduled van trips to local shops, museums, and even fishing spots, and plenty of organized wellness programs help everyone stay as active as they want-whether that's playing cards, taking fitness classes or using the fitness center with equipment designed for older adults, including a HUR exercise machine, recumbent cross trainers, and stationary bikes. The staff here gets noticed for being helpful and kind, and the place feels relaxed and welcoming, from the fireside seating area in the lobby to the inviting living room and friendly mailroom decorated with cheerful words.

Housing is set up with month-to-month leases and no 30-day notice required to move to other residences on campus, and there are income-based apartments in a neighboring building for those who qualify, along with the full range of care at facilities like Woodside Manor for assisted living, Woodside Villa for memory care, and Woodside Lutheran Home for skilled nursing and short-term rehab therapy. People can find housekeeping, meal services, personal care like bathing and dressing help, medication management, and grief, emotional, and spiritual support as needed. Awards for best activities and friendliness show people notice the effort put into keeping residents supported and engaged, but what stands out most day to day is the gentle pace, thoughtful amenities, and the sense that everyone gets treated with respect in a place built for comfort, safety, and community.
