    About Merit Centre South

Merit Centre South offers an uplifting and safe oasis designed for adults seeking community engagement, personal enrichment, and support with day-to-day independence. The center provides an inviting environment where individuals gather not only to take part in diverse activities, but to connect with others from both within the Centre and the broader community. Each day brings the opportunity to tailor experiences to one’s own preferences—whether a participant seeks the peace of relaxation or the joy of engaging pursuits such as cards, gardening, baking, creative arts, or dining outings, there is always something to spark interest and enjoyment.

The focus at Merit Centre South is on a holistic approach to wellbeing, encompassing brain health, social connectedness, and physical wellness. This comprehensive range of daily activities and outings is designed specifically to encourage continued independence while supporting the unique needs of each participant. Programs and services are open to older adults and adults with disabilities, including those dealing with developmental disabilities, advanced age, dementia or Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury, physical disabilities, or mental health support needs.

Operated on weekdays, the Centre provides a consistent schedule intended to offer families and participants a structured, engaging environment. Opportunities are available for self/private pay, VA, Family Care, and IRIS participants, broadening access to this valuable service. In addition, short-term funding may be available, which can help those facing financial constraints to “try out” the program or transition into a regular schedule while seeking longer-term support. With thoughtful programming, welcoming spaces, and a deep commitment to participant and family support, Merit Centre South stands as a trusted gathering place devoted to helping every individual maintain independence and a fulfilling quality of life.
