    About Hope & A Future

Hope & A Future sits at 1115 S. High Point Road in Madison, Wisconsin, on five acres with plenty of green space, and tries to help both seniors and young families live together as neighbors, sharing meals and community life, and what you find there is a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces where adults, kids, and visitors spend time together, and the goal's really about helping people from different ages connect, so older people can mentor young families and children while enjoying friendship and support themselves. The Adult Family Home serves up to four seniors who need skilled nursing care, and there's a nurse living right on site, together with live-in staff and sometimes their own kids, which means the place always has a home-like feeling, and the "Family of Friends" idea shapes all the caregiving and activities. The community wants families with young children to join in, especially those needing support, and as part of that, there's affordable rentals aimed at young families looking for stability, while at the same time there are homes for seniors from different income levels. Hope & A Future keeps growing, with plans to add more housing, a daycare for children, day programs for seniors (even for those who don't live there), and more community space for everyone to gather. The big idea behind this "Therapeutic, Interactive, INtergenerational Neighborhood" is to make sure no one feels lonely or left out, so the programs, events, and daily routines all focus on building friendships and giving people a purpose. Volunteers, visitors, and families take part in the life of the neighborhood, and there's always something happening, from meals around the family table to simple daily activities outside or in the common rooms, with a strong commitment to cost-effective care and making sure people feel like they belong. The organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and there are ways to get involved as a volunteer, read their newsletter, or follow along with their blog, so whether someone's interested in living there, working there, or just being part of the wider community, Hope & A Future tries to keep its doors open to all.
