    Pleasant but serious care failures

I found the place clean, homey and inviting with friendly, caring staff who were easy to talk with. Common areas are small but pleasant - board games room, family visiting area, shaded outdoor walkway and adequate dining - and the cats (and dogs on site) bring comfort though cats can shed and rooms are small. Residents have choice about staying in rooms and bingo donations are welcome, but activities felt limited and many costs are out-of-pocket. I was upset by a forced move/roommate situation and, most seriously, a lapse in care: a missed UTI that contributed to a resident's death. Overall it's quiet and decent, but weigh the benefits against the risks and costs.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is mixed-positive with several recurring strengths and a few significant concerns. Most reviewers praise the personal side of care: staff are repeatedly described as caring, helpful, friendly, amenable, and easy to talk with. Multiple comments emphasize a home-like atmosphere, a clean and inviting facility appearance, and compassionate or excellent care. The setting is noted as quiet and country-like, which some families and residents appreciate. Physical features that reviewers liked include a family-friendly visiting area, an adequately sized dining area, a board games room and bingo activities, and outdoor shaded areas and a walkway around the building. Reviewers also noted small touches such as residents being able to bring their own furniture and the presence of cats that bring joy to residents, with donations (lotions, soaps, stuffed animals) supporting activities like bingo.

Facilities and common areas receive generally positive marks for cleanliness and a homelike setup, but several reviewers point out space limitations. Multiple mentions of small rooms and a small living room/common area suggest tight interior spaces that may not suit residents who want larger private or communal living areas. While the dining area is characterized as adequately sized, the overall footprint for communal activities and lounging appears limited for some. Outdoor features such as shaded seating and a walkway are positives for ambulation and fresh air.

Activities and social life show a dual picture. There are organized elements such as a board games room and bingo supported by community donations, which indicate some social programming. However, several reviewers said activities are limited and that many residents spend most of their time in their rooms. This pattern suggests that while there are activity offerings, they may not be extensive, frequent, or appealing enough for all residents. Prospective families may want to ask for a sample weekly calendar and participation rates to see if programming matches their expectations.

Pets are a notable theme with both positive and negative sides. Cats are specifically mentioned as bringing happiness to residents, creating emotional benefits and a homelike feel. At the same time, reviewers raised practical concerns about pet shedding and noted that dogs are on site — which could be a deterrent for people who are not dog people or who have allergies. Clarifying the facility's pet policies and cleanup routines would be important for prospective residents who are sensitive to shedding or who dislike dogs.

The reviews also include serious concerns related to management and clinical oversight. While most comments about staff emphasize kindness and approachability, at least one review alleges staff negligence: a missed urinary tract infection that the reviewer says contributed to a resident's death. Other administrative/room-placement issues were raised, including forced moves and roommate problems, and ongoing out-of-pocket costs were noted as a negative financial consideration. These items represent important red flags because they go beyond comfort and convenience to matters of safety, clinical responsiveness, and resident rights. Even with many positive staff reports, potential residents and families should directly inquire about clinical staffing levels, protocols for monitoring and escalating health concerns, room assignment policies, and how the facility handles roommate disputes and involuntary transfers.

In summary, Wells Nature View CBR F appears to provide a clean, home-like environment with caring and approachable staff and several pleasant amenities (visiting area, dining space, games/bingo, outdoor areas). However, there are notable trade-offs: smaller private and common spaces, limited activity engagement for some residents, pet-related issues (shedding and dogs), and financial and management concerns including at least one serious allegation about medical oversight. The reviews suggest an overall decent facility where interpersonal warmth and atmosphere are strengths, but where prospective residents should investigate room size, activity schedules, pet policies, costs, and clinical oversight procedures before deciding. Reviewers' comments indicate that asking specific questions about medical response protocols, staff training and ratios, move/roommate policies, and examples of recent activity calendars would be prudent for anyone considering this community.

About Wells Nature View CBR F's

Wells Nature View CBR F's sits on South Adams Avenue in Marshfield, Wisconsin, and works as a community-based residential facility for older adults and people with disabilities, where you'll find suite-style living that comes in the form of private, semi-private, and fully furnished apartments, and folks can choose whether to have their own furniture or use what's provided, and there's a focus on keeping the place home-like instead of feeling like an institution, with sunrooms looking out on bird and flower gardens, places to gather with family, and a large living room with a two-way fireplace that warms both the living area and the library-sitting space right next to it, plus country-style dining rooms where residents enjoy home-cooked meals together. Wells Nature View CBR F's supports those who need help with daily living, whether it's bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers, medication management, health monitoring, or just someone to be there and check in each day, and services stretch from basic support to assisted living with skilled nursing hours up to three a week, though more can happen with special permissions, making this a flexible place for people at many stages who maybe don't want to leave as their needs increase. Residents can bring pets, enjoy indoor parking, and use the building's features that make getting around easier, such as handicap accessibility, a 24-hour call system, and continual supervision, so safety and ease stay a main concern. The facility is licensed as Class C unrestricted, which means it can help wheelchair users or people who need extra assistance, and there's special programming in memory care for folks with Alzheimer's and dementia, with secured areas and daily activities that are set up to help keep memories strong and give purpose to the day, alongside classes for healthy living, mental wellness programs, and support for caregivers. There's a strong thread of community engagement, partly through links to programs like CAMP EPIC, LLC, daily scheduled activities, classes, and help connecting to outside resources. Meals for seniors, benefits support, equipment lending, and transportation help-both for daily needs and medical appointments-are part of the regular offer, along with spiritual activities and visits to nearby places of worship. Wells Nature View CBR F's can house about 20 residents and works as both an assisted living and memory care service, with board and care homes for those who prefer a smaller setup and as part of a wider retirement community supporting aging in place, all while handling independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing, including wound care and rehabilitation, which means it can cover a full range of care as someone's situation changes. The payment options include IRIS, Managed Care, private pay, and some financial help like Community Options Program (COP) and Family Care via county Aging & Disability Resource Centers, though the facility isn't subsidized and does sometimes ask for application or entrance fees depending on the payment plan. The staff works to give care that's tailored, focusing on dignity, independence, and engagement with nature, where people can decorate their spaces to their likes, take part in regular activities, enjoy garden spaces, and experience the outdoors in safety, and the houses can be old renovated homes or new constructions, all aiming for warmth and comfort. The reviews say Wells Nature View CBR F's is well liked, and the setup, which isn't too big but has a good range of services, fits those who want to be part of a small, supportive, and nature-connected community in Marshfield.
