    Spotless, active community; poor management

I lived here and appreciated the small 22-room, apartment-style setup - private bath, kitchenette, living space and bedroom set - spotlessly clean and pleasantly scented. Homemade meals (two choices), afternoon games, coffee, activities, volunteers, a communal dining room/TV and nearby religious services made it active yet quiet, and overall a good, cheap value. My one big concern was management/staff behavior - I experienced/witnessed poor handling and even a sudden eviction without notice, which left me very wary.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews describe Laurel Manor as a small, clean, and affordable residential option with apartment-style units and a homey atmosphere, but with at least one serious and recurring complaint about management behavior and eviction practices. Many reviewers emphasize the facility's small scale (22 rooms), spotless condition, private apartments with kitchens and bathrooms, and reasonable cost — all factors that contribute to a perception of good value. At the same time, the presence of strong negative commentary — including reports of eviction without notice and allegations of poor management or staff behavior — creates a sharp contrast in sentiment and represents a significant red flag that prospective residents and families should investigate further.

Facilities and living space: Multiple reviews highlight the physical features as clear strengths. Residents or family members note apartment-style private units, complete with a kitchen, private bathroom, and furnished living/bedroom sets. The facility is repeatedly described as very clean and smelling pleasant, and reviewers mention a communal dining area with a TV, which reinforces a small, residential feel rather than an institutional one. Convenience of location is cited, and the facility’s small footprint appears to suit people looking for quieter, more private living arrangements.

Dining and daily life: Dining is consistently noted as a positive element — homemade meals, two choices per meal, and coffee and afternoon games are mentioned as part of daily life. The presence of volunteers and organized activities (for example, afternoon games) and nearby religious services provides some structured engagement opportunities. Several reviewers say residents enjoy these offerings, which supports a picture of decent everyday programming for a small facility. However, the facility’s small size and quiet ambiance also lead to observations about limited socialization for some residents, meaning that activity levels and social opportunity may depend heavily on the current resident mix and volunteer involvement.

Staff and care: Accounts of staff behavior are mixed. Some reviewers use words like “helpful” and “accommodating,” suggesting caring hands-on staff in certain interactions. Conversely, other reviews accuse management and staff of poor behavior and even cite abrupt eviction without notice. That particular complaint is severe and is raised explicitly in the summary set; it shifts the overall assessment from uniformly positive to decidedly mixed. Given these opposing perspectives, there appears to be inconsistency in experience — some residents receive attentive, accommodating care, while others report troubling management actions.

Management and notable concerns: The most significant negative theme is the allegation of eviction without notice and an accusation of poor management/staff behavior. One or more reviewers characterize the place as “horrible,” which, although not a majority sentiment in the set, is an extreme outlier that should not be ignored. These reports introduce risk regarding resident protections, administrative transparency, and the reliability of management practices. Because most other comments focus on cleanliness, affordability, private apartments, and decent food, the serious management-related allegations stand out as the most consequential concern in these reviews.

Patterns and recommendations based on the reviews: The dominant positive patterns are small size, cleanliness, private apartment-style living, good homemade meals, affordability, and some activity offerings. The dominant negative pattern is inconsistent management/staff behavior with at least one specific, serious allegation of eviction without proper notice. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s appealing physical features and cost against the potential administrative risks described by some reviewers. When evaluating Laurel Manor in person, it would be prudent to ask directly about resident rights, eviction policies and procedures, staff turnover, complaint resolution processes, and to speak with current residents or their families about their experiences to gauge how representative the positive versus negative reports are.

Bottom line: Laurel Manor appears to be a small, clean, and affordable option with private apartments, decent meals, and basic activities that many residents enjoy. However, conflicting reports about management conduct — including at least one allegation of abrupt eviction — are serious enough to warrant careful follow-up before making a placement decision. The facility’s strengths are clear from multiple reviews, but the management-related criticisms are significant and should be investigated further during any tour or inquiry.
