    Clean well-maintained great food ineligible

I toured the community and was impressed: very clean, well-maintained, and the food was awesome. Independent living is pretty good and there's convenient underground parking. I was disappointed to learn I'm not eligible at age 45. Excellent accommodations for hearing aid and cochlear implant users - hearing loops in the chapel and dining/activity room are clearly signed.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is distinctly positive, with particular emphasis on accessibility for residents with hearing loss, cleanliness, dining quality, and physical upkeep. Multiple mentions highlight that Carmel Residence • Miravida Living has invested in hearing accessibility — specifically hearing loop systems installed in the chapel and the dining/activity room — and that the installation is accompanied by clear signage. Reviewers describe this as a terrific accommodation for people who use hearing aids and cochlear implants, signaling that the community pays attention to important assistive technologies and communication needs.

Facility upkeep and environmental quality are repeatedly noted. Reviewers describe the property as very clean, well maintained, and "nice," suggesting consistent housekeeping and building maintenance. The presence of underground parking is called out as a convenience and logistical plus. Because the community is noted as offering independent living, the physical environment and maintenance appear to match expectations for that lifestyle level.

Dining is another clear strength in the reviews. The food is described as "awesome," indicating high resident satisfaction with meal quality and likely variety. The fact that the dining/activity room also houses a hearing loop points to an integrated approach to communal dining and activities that accommodates residents with hearing loss.

The primary concern raised is an age-related eligibility limitation: at least one reviewer noted that a person aged 45 would not be eligible. This indicates an age cutoff or policy that excludes younger retirees or pre-retiree adults, which could be a barrier for some prospective residents and families. Aside from that specific admission-related note, there are no other consistent negatives cited in the supplied summaries.

There are notable information gaps in the reviews provided. The summaries do not give direct insight into staff responsiveness, clinical care (if any), the breadth or quality of activities and programming beyond the hearing-loop-equipped spaces, nor specifics about management or administrative responsiveness. Given the strong positives around accessibility, cleanliness, dining, and maintenance, prospective residents should still ask targeted questions about staff-to-resident interactions, on-site medical or assisted-living options (if needed in the future), activity schedules, and any additional eligibility policies during a tour or inquiry.

In sum, the reviews portray Carmel Residence • Miravida Living as a well-maintained independent living community with standout hearing accessibility features, excellent dining, and strong cleanliness and facility quality. The most significant drawback noted is an age-based eligibility restriction that may exclude younger prospective residents. For a complete evaluation, interested parties should verify policies, staffing, and programming details that are not addressed in the available summaries.

The community's Thrive Program and organized activities keep everyone engaged, and personal interests are encouraged, whether that's baking in Gabriel's Villa kitchen, gardening, or just sitting outside.

Carmel Residence provides 70 independent living units and accepts tax-deductible donations, as it's a 501(c)(3) organization with a long history dating back to 1970, and as of 2023, it reported steady financials with strong support from the Miravida Living Foundation. The staff highlights the importance of caregivers and family staying involved and helps answer questions about care options, and the place carries awards for its service in Wisconsin. Transportation to shopping and outings, regular maintenance, and social events are all part of everyday life, and residents get the chance to try new things, make friends, and enjoy a lifestyle focusing on wellness, safety, and comfort.
