    Friendly attentive staff; home-like community

I'm very pleased with the friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff - excellent care, an experienced RN director, ongoing staff education and regular psychiatry rounds, plus a varied activities program that keeps residents engaged. The community feels home-like, welcoming, and caring (my dad is well looked-after), though availability is limited because it's often full and I did notice occasional cleanliness/urine odor issues. Overall I highly recommend this beautiful, active little community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with repeated praise for the quality of care, the staff, and the community atmosphere at Our House Senior Living - Platteville Assisted Care. Many reviewers emphasize that the facility feels like a home, pointing to a combination of attentive caregiving, engaged leadership, and a welcoming environment. Multiple comments single out an experienced RN director and ongoing staff education, along with regular psychiatry rounds, which suggest a structured clinical oversight and commitment to continued staff training. These clinical supports are frequently mentioned alongside descriptions of patient, kind, and attentive staff who listen and engage residents, creating a sense of trust and reassurance among family members and residents themselves.

Staffing and care quality are the strongest themes. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help; some reviews name specific staff (e.g., Patrisha) and the director as particularly outstanding. The overall tone implies a positive workplace culture—staff engagement, people feeling valued, and a director who is praised for leadership. Several reviewers state that residents are cared for and treated with kindness, describing staff as blessings to their loved ones. The presence of an experienced RN director, ongoing staff education programs, and psychiatry rounds are specific indicators that clinical needs and behavioral health are being actively managed.

Activities and daily life are another prominent positive. The facility is repeatedly credited with a robust, varied activities program — described as fun and offering lots of variety — and reviewers mention monthly programming, appreciation events, and a generally lively environment. These comments are often paired with statements that residents are happy and engaged, and that the community provides nutritious meals, including a noted nutritious breakfast. This combination of engaging activities and appropriate nutrition contributes to the repeated recommendation of the facility by families.

Facilities and physical environment receive mostly favorable comments: reviewers call the building well-maintained with a nice layout and describe the setting as beautiful and inviting. However, there is at least one notable negative outlier claiming the facility was dirty with a urine smell and that staff were unhelpful; that review also asserts residents were inactive and concludes with a not-recommended stance. This single negative report contrasts with the majority of positive accounts and should be considered when evaluating consistency of housekeeping and staff responsiveness. Prospective families should inquire specifically about cleanliness protocols and visit at different times to verify current conditions.

Population served and availability present important practical considerations. The facility accepts residents with early-stage dementia, which is an advantage for families seeking a setting tailored to milder cognitive impairment, but it also represents a limitation for those needing care for moderate-to-advanced dementia. Several reviewers mention that the community is often full and has limited availability, so waitlists or timing may be factors in placement. Prospective families should confirm acceptance criteria, typical acuity levels, and waitlist procedures early in their inquiry.

In sum, the dominant pattern in the reviews is one of high satisfaction driven by compassionate, well-trained staff, strong leadership, a lively activities program, and an inviting, home-like environment. The chief concerns are limited availability and a single but significant report about cleanliness and engagement problems; these represent areas worthy of direct inquiry at a visit. Recommended next steps for an interested family are to schedule an in-person tour (preferably during an activity), speak with the RN director about clinical oversight and psychiatry scheduling, ask about cleaning and infection-control practices, and confirm dementia-level acceptance and current bed availability.
