    Settled in, friendly staff, activities

I've settled in nicely and really enjoy the meals in the shared dining area. My unit is small but neat with a TV, and the common TV and coffee areas are clean and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful from the tour, I've made friends, and I regularly take part in exercise, crafts and other scheduled activities - the place is tidy, well-located, and even has fun decorations.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing cleanliness, friendliness of staff, and an active social environment. Facilities are described as neat and well-kept both inside and out, and residents or visitors consistently mention that the building is clean. The presentation and upkeep of common spaces appear to be a strength, contributing to a pleasant first impression for new residents and guests.

Staff and care-related impressions are favorable. Reviewers repeatedly use words like "friendly," "really good," and "helpful" to describe staff interactions. A helpful tour guide was singled out, suggesting that admissions and initial orientation are handled well. Several comments indicate residents have "settled in nicely," are "making friends," and are "participating in activities," which implies staff are effective at facilitating social integration and daily engagement rather than just providing basic services.

The facility’s social and activity programming is a clear asset. Reviews list an activity schedule, exercise opportunities, crafts, and decorated common areas (Halloween decorations were noted) that contribute to a lively atmosphere. Shared spaces such as a TV area and a coffee area are highlighted, and multiple reviewers report using these areas and enjoying the activities, which support both physical and social engagement. The presence of in-room TVs and communal areas gives residents options for solitary or group leisure.

Dining is generally viewed positively — reviewers specifically say they are "enjoying the food." Meals appear to be served in a common dining area rather than in private dining rooms or in-room service; this communal dining format can promote socialization and is consistent with the active communal environment described. However, it should be noted that the communal meal arrangement may not meet preferences for private dining for some prospective residents.

Room and facility layout notes are mixed. Units are described succinctly as "small units (one room and a bathroom)," and rooms are characterized as neat and clean. The small, single-room format with an attached bathroom is factual and may suit many residents seeking simplicity and easy maintenance. At the same time, reviewers’ emphasis on the small size means prospective residents who require more living space or privacy may find the accommodations limited. The presence of in-room TVs and tidy rooms mitigates some concerns about comfort, but the limited square footage remains a notable characteristic.

In summary, VitaCare Living of Rice Lake is portrayed as a clean, well-run community with friendly staff, an engaging activity program, and communal amenities that foster social connection. Dining is positively received, and admissions/tour experiences appear welcoming. The principal considerations for future residents are the small unit size (single-room units with a bathroom) and the communal nature of meal service; these features suit residents who prioritize social activities and manageable living spaces but may be less ideal for those needing larger private quarters or private dining options. Overall, reviews indicate a high level of resident satisfaction in areas of staff interaction, cleanliness, and social programming.

About VitaCare Living of Rice Lake

VitaCare Living of Rice Lake is an assisted living and memory care community with two separate buildings, one with 15 beds and another with 16 beds, and they allow residents to bring cats and dogs, which is nice for people who want to keep their pets with them. The apartments are all ground-floor studios, and each one includes air conditioning, full-size tubs, no-step or wheelchair-accessible showers, and WiFi, which helps keep things comfortable and easy to use for everyone. Staff are available around the clock to help with things like medication, personal care, monitoring, and reminders, and there are registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and medication managers on staff, with a doctor and a nurse on call. Residents can have their meals in a restaurant-style dining area, and the kitchen serves special diets like gluten-free, vegan, low-sodium, or low-sugar when needed. Guests can join for meals, and there are options for check and Medicaid payments, which some people will find helpful.

There's a full-time activity director who keeps the place busy with all sorts of activities-like art classes, music programs, bingo, board games, fitness and wellness programs, and even outings, community concerts, and picnics when the weather is good, and volunteers come to help with companionship. Residents enjoy both indoor and outdoor spaces, with gardens for walks or sitting outside on the patio furniture, plus indoor spaces for cards or movies. There are beauty and barber services, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance, so folks don't have to worry about chores. Devotional services take place onsite, and there's transportation to religious services and activities offsite, which some people find meaningful.

The place offers both assisted living and memory care, and the memory care units have secure outdoor areas, alerts on exits, and special staff training for Alzheimer's and dementia care, so families can know their relatives are safe. They give help for everyday needs like bathing, dressing, and meals, but also provide skilled services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, oxygen and medication support, wound and incontinence care, diabetic and high-needs care, and visits from occupational therapists, podiatrists, dentists, and in-home healthcare. They've designed things so residents can stay as independent as possible while getting the help they need, and areas of the community are set up for women only when requested. They allow visits from loved ones and have parties for holidays and birthdays, plus outings and companionship activities, so people aren't feeling left out. Smoking isn't allowed in shared indoor spaces. Facilities sit close to local medical clinics, shops, restaurants, and recreational activities. VitaCare promotes a secure, home-like atmosphere where the staff are described as being like family, striving to help residents feel cared for while encouraging them to remain active and independent.
