    Compassionate, attentive, clean, family-like care

I placed my parent here and couldn't be happier - the caregivers are compassionate, attentive, and on-site 24/7, building real relationships with residents. The facility is clean, well-kept and homelike with healthy meals, active programs, beautiful grounds and a strong, responsive management team. Staff are friendly, engaged and treat residents with respect; concerns are handled promptly and communication is excellent. I highly recommend this safe, family-like place for elder care (memory care has a small staff ratio and no on-site nurse).

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is highly positive: reviewers consistently describe Comforts of Home Advanced Memory Care - The Gardens as a beautiful, well-maintained, and homelike community with compassionate, attentive staff and strong programming. The facility’s physical environment is repeatedly praised — reviewers mention clean buildings, attractive grounds with a pond or lake, safe walking paths, and multiple buildings that contribute to a tranquil setting. Several comments emphasize that the facility feels like a family and that residents seem genuinely happy and comfortable living there.

Care quality and staffing emerge as the clearest strengths. Caregivers are described as trained, compassionate, and deeply engaged with residents, building strong personal connections. Many reviews note 24/7 on-site caregiver availability in assisted and memory care areas and a favorable small staff-to-resident ratio in the memory care unit. Reviewers highlight personalized attention (help with medications, tailored assistance), a focus on psychological comfort, and an environment where residents feel respected and safe. Multiple reviewers singled out specific staff members — particularly the activities coordinator (named Shawna/Shauna in several summaries) and managers (including Megan) — as inspirational, patient, and central to the positive resident experience.

Programming, activities, and dining are also frequently cited as assets. The community runs an active activities schedule with exercise, reading groups, games, trivia, walks, and religious services; reviewers credited the activities director for keeping residents engaged and hopeful. Dining receives strong positive feedback: meals are called healthy, diabetic-friendly options are available, fresh fruit is provided in the morning, and overall meal quality is praised. Several reviewers specifically mentioned good dining experiences and enjoyable community events (bands, gatherings). Transportation assistance and supportive social programming contribute to families’ overall satisfaction.

Management and operations are viewed favorably overall: reviewers describe responsive, caring leadership and clear communication with families. Many families report that concerns are addressed promptly and that staff and management show pride in their work. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as safe, respectful, and family-like, with staff devotion singled out as a reason families would recommend the community.

Noted concerns are limited but consistent in a few areas and worth attention. Several reviews mention that there is no on-site nurse, which may be important for families whose loved ones require closer clinical oversight. Communication infrastructure problems were reported (main phone system issues), with staff sharing personal cell numbers as a workaround; while families appreciated the direct contact, the phone issues indicate an operational gap. A few reviewers reported staff turnover and linked that turnover to temporary declines in food quality and cleanliness. While these concerns appear isolated rather than systemic in the majority of reviews, they do represent patterns that prospective families may want to explore further (staff stability, contingency plans, clinical oversight).

In summary, reviewers overwhelmingly recommend Comforts of Home Advanced Memory Care - The Gardens for its compassionate care, strong activities program, attractive and safe environment, and responsive management. The chief strengths are the staff’s dedication and relationship-building with residents, a homelike and well-maintained campus, and engaging, health-conscious dining and activity options. Potential visitors and families should confirm clinical staffing levels (nurse availability), ask about how the community manages communication systems and staff turnover, and inquire about how temporary dips in service quality are handled. Overall, the reviews portray a highly regarded memory care community where residents are treated with dignity and families feel supported.

Alongside memory care, there's help for those who need assisted living or even short breaks (respite stays), and folks who need help with incontinence, non-ambulatory care, or diabetic care can also get support. They offer laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, transportation, parking, and a move-in service that eases the big transition when someone comes to stay. Comforts of Home & Gracewood run the community, and residents can pay using private funds, Medicaid, long-term care insurance, or VA benefits, so there are several ways to cover the costs.
