    Compassionate staff, safe and clean

I placed my parent here on short notice and have been very pleased - the staff are wonderful, friendly, helpful and truly put residents first, even providing compassionate end-of-life support and coordinating with hospice. The building is older but clean, well-maintained and home-like with nice (sometimes small) apartments, a large dining area, plenty of activities, and a great town location with shops nearby. Meals had staffing/COVID problems in the past but are largely fixed now (taste varies and you can opt to cook), and there has been some staff turnover and possible management changes - new staff have been fine and administration is responsive. Overall I felt safe, got peace of mind, and would recommend it to other families.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing the strength of the staff and the warm, home-like environment. The most consistent praise is for the people who work there: staff are described as friendly, caring, responsive, and willing to collaborate with families. Reviewers note that staff help new residents settle in, encourage involvement in community activities, and adapt care plans to individual needs. Several accounts highlight compassionate end-of-life care, including coordination with hospice and respectful farewell arrangements, and at least one reviewer specifically appreciated that a resident could remain with a beloved cat. These examples reinforce a perception that staff prioritize resident dignity and individualized care.

Facility and location are frequently mentioned as advantages. The property is described as clean and well-maintained for its age, with comfortable common areas and a large, remodeled dining space. The location is noted as convenient—close to grocery stores, shops, and restaurants—and the facility’s role as the county Senior Center strengthens its community ties. Availability is another recurring theme: several reviewers appreciated that apartments were available when needed, resulting in quick placement and peace of mind. Apartment options are flexible, with mentions of a two-bedroom unit that includes a full kitchen, which appeals to residents who want more independence and the ability to cook.

Dining, activities, and social life emerge as significant strengths. Multiple reviewers praise daily activities and entertainment (bingo, bridge, euchre, music in the afternoons, bird shows, visiting entertainers) and say that the social atmosphere helps residents form friendships. The dining area and meals receive largely positive comments—reviewers cite excellent food and a clean, pleasant dining room—and some note that the facility recently addressed past issues. However, meal quality can be subjective; a few reviewers said meals varied by taste and there were problems during COVID/staffing shortages that have since been improved. Practical services like weekly short cleanings of rooms and supportive check-ins at lunch are also noted and contribute to an overall sense of care.

Notable concerns are consistent but limited in scope. The facility is an older building, and a few reviewers pointed out that it is not the newest or most upscale option; some rooms are described as small. Staff turnover and potential management changes were mentioned as worries by more than one reviewer, which could affect continuity of care or service consistency over time. There are also isolated comments about how certain past incidents were handled—reviewers felt communication or handling could have been better in unique situations. One reviewer mentioned a dislike of a religious focus, indicating that the religious or cultural orientation of programming may not suit everyone. Overall, the negative points tend to be specific and not universal across all reviews.

In summary, these reviews collectively portray Wellhaven Senior Living as a community with strong, compassionate staffing, a warm and social atmosphere, and practical amenities that support resident independence and family involvement. It appears to offer good value, community integration, and a robust activity program. Prospective residents and families should weigh the benefits of attentive staff, social programming, and location against the reality of an older building with some small rooms and occasional turnover. Past meal and staffing challenges during COVID were noted but also described as largely resolved, so prospective families may want to ask about current staffing stability and management continuity during tours and conversations with administrators.

    About Wellhaven Senior Living

Wellhaven Senior Living sits in a friendly, welcoming community where people can choose from independent living, assisted living, or supportive care, plus there's memory care, skilled nursing, and rehab therapy if ever needed, so you'll find both one- and two-bedroom apartments here, many newly remodeled, and they all come with good-sized closets, private bathrooms-even handicap-accessible ones with ramped showers-full kitchens including refrigerators, electric ranges, and microwaves, so if you like plenty of space and a place that feels like home, Wellhaven tries to cover that by letting you furnish your own space as you want while including cable TV, telephones, free wireless internet, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning in each unit, with weekly housekeeping and spacious laundry rooms on every floor so chores don't stack up too much, and there's a connected, heated garage for easy coming and going, with transportation and parking for those who want it.

Residents here get a good variety of meals, often chef-prepared, with restaurant-style dining, special diet options like those for diabetes, and all-day dining available, plus snacks, and folks can join the River Falls Senior Center or the Memory Cafe right in the community, keeping minds sharp and giving everyone places to meet, talk, and do things together with exercise classes, arts and crafts, social events, games, and outdoor activities like garden tending or walks on the outdoor paths, and for those who want to stay busy inside, there's a fitness room, game room, library, activity room, sauna, spa, and a movie theater for community movie nights or relaxing with friends.

Wellhaven puts a strong focus on security and health, using a 24-hour call and emergency system, fire detection and sprinkler systems throughout, and building staff available day and night, plus a nursing team on call, with help as needed for bathing, dressing, medication monitoring and management, and even transfers, so people can be as independent as they're able but still know care is there if needed, and they'll adjust the level of support if needs change over time, including aging in place, respite, hospice care, and wheelchair-friendly living.

Staff offer friendly, compassionate service rooted in Christian values, and make an effort to include family in care decisions and activities, with events and special programs for veterans, anniversaries, births, engagements, obituaries, weddings, and plenty of resident-run activities, so people stay involved and connected, and every day can celebrate someone or something meaningful.

There's a move-in coordination service that helps people get settled, while housekeeping, maintenance, utilities, and family support services keep daily worries to a minimum, and residents have easy access to transportation for appointments and outings, plus there's resident parking for those who drive, and a heated indoor garage for comfort in bad weather.

Wellhaven offers auxiliary programs and web extras tied to local interests-things like books, business, food, gardening, agriculture, automotive, and entertainment-creating extra chances for residents to learn or pick up new hobbies, with a variety of organized social, educational, and entertainment programs scheduled every day, and regularly scheduled devotional services onsite and offsite for spiritual wellness. All this is designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and active home-like setting where social interaction and privacy can both be respected, making it a good place for people who want independence and comfort but also the peace of mind that comes with having help and connection close by.
