    Friendly, clean facility; inconsistent care

I appreciate the friendly, helpful staff, clean/homier facility (small memory-care cottages) and good value - it even accepts Medicaid. However my loved one had inconsistent room upkeep and hygiene, occasional falls with poor notification and spotty management follow-up, so I'd recommend it only for more independent residents; not for those needing higher-dependency care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for New Perspective Senior Living | Mequon is mixed but leans toward cautiously positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize that staff are friendly, caring, and helpful; several families found the staff receptive to concerns and willing to make accommodations. The community is frequently described as homier and quieter than larger institutional settings, with a small-cottage memory care feel that some families prefer. A number of reviewers reported the facility is clean, well maintained, and offers good perceived value; the fact that it accepts Medicaid and Family Care was noted as a positive practical point.

Care quality and staffing emerge as a major theme with both positive and negative notes. On the positive side, many reviewers praised individual caregivers for being kind, responsive, and available to answer questions. However, there are consistent reports of problematic incidents: falls were mentioned more than once, and at least one reviewer said the family was not notified about a fall. Several reviewers raised safety concerns and described caregivers as lax or inconsistent, and multiple comments indicate the community may not be appropriate for residents with higher dependency or complex care needs. There are also specific criticisms about inadequate hygiene care for some residents, which compounds concerns about suitability for more dependent individuals.

Facility condition and housekeeping receive mixed feedback. Many reviewers describe the property as very nice, clean, quiet, and well maintained, which supports the impression of a homelike environment. Conversely, other reviews call out problems with room upkeep — for example, floors not being cleaned and rooms not being well kept — suggesting inconsistency in housekeeping standards. These divergent reports point to variability in operational consistency: some shifts or cottages may be well run while others experience lapses.

Activity programming is another area of divergence. Some residents and families report lots of activities and an engaged social program, while others describe a light or limited activity calendar. Linked to this is mention of a mismatch between the resident age group and the type or level of care provided; this can affect how well activities meet individual needs and whether the social environment is the right fit. In short, activity quality and quantity may depend on the specific cottage, resident mix, or timing when the reviewer visited.

Management, communication, and follow-up are recurring concerns. Several reviewers noted recent management changes, and multiple comments cited a lack of follow-up or that concerns were not heard or addressed. At least one review contrasts initial responsiveness (receptive to concerns and accommodations made) with later lapses in follow-through, indicating possible inconsistency in leadership or systems. These administrative issues appear to be a key driver of family frustration when problems occur.

Taken together, the reviews suggest New Perspective Senior Living | Mequon can be a good fit for some families—particularly those seeking a smaller, homier memory care setting, those who need Medicaid/Family Care acceptance, or those whose loved ones are relatively independent. Strengths include friendly staff, a generally pleasant facility, and perceived value. However, there are clear and recurring red flags for higher-dependency residents: reports of falls, inconsistent hygiene, safety worries, and variable housekeeping and activity programming. Families considering this facility should weigh the positive aspects against these concerns, ask specific questions about fall-prevention protocols, staffing ratios and training, hygiene routines, and how management handles incident reporting and follow-up. A visit focused on the specific cottage where the resident would live, conversations with direct-care staff, and checking recent inspection or complaint records would help determine whether this community is the right and consistently safe fit for an individual loved one.
