    Compassionate staff, safety and amenities

My mom lives here - the brand-new building is spotless, with small single-room apartments and a pleasant river view. The staff are caring, qualified, and very helpful; meals are cooked on-site and there are plenty of activities (bingo, crafts, seasonal events). Downsides: limited amenities compared with other places, small rooms, poor phone responsiveness, and management isn't always present. Serious safety concern: my sister fell and wasn't found for about 15 minutes in subzero weather, resulting in a hip fracture - there are no cameras and the owner defended the response. Overall I appreciate the excellent, compassionate staff and peaceful setting, but weigh the safety and amenity issues before choosing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these reviews is strongly positive about the staff, cleanliness, and the newness of the Riverwalk Senior Living facility, while raising several consistent caveats about amenities, communication, and at least one serious safety concern. Reviewers repeatedly praise the people who work there—descriptions include "friendly," "caring," "qualified," and "outstanding." Multiple accounts emphasize excellent, attentive caregiving and positive interactions during tours and move-in periods. Several reviewers explicitly state that their family members "love it" and "receive great care," and several recommend the facility highly.

Facility and amenities observations are mixed but generally favorable. The building is described as brand-new, very clean, and well-maintained, with an impressive dining area/entry and on-site meal preparation in a large kitchen. There are many shared/common areas with comfortable seating and TVs, a laundry room, and basic amenities that support both independent living and assisted needs. Apartment layouts are mainly single-room or "mini" apartments; reviewers note nice window views and a nearby river with a paved walking path, contributing to a peaceful environment. Activity programming includes bingo, crafts, card games, and seasonal events, which residents and families report positively.

However, a number of reviewers consider the amenities more basic or limited compared with other senior living options. While the essentials (meals, laundry, activities) are available, some expected luxuries or broader amenity offerings are missing. Rooms are described as small by multiple reviewers, and one person noted the community felt more basic than competing facilities. The location in a small/remote town is a pro for those seeking quiet, but a con for those wanting proximity to more services or urban conveniences. A remote outside smoking area was noted, which may be inconvenient for some.

Communication and management issues appear repeatedly as pain points. Several reviews mention poor phone responsiveness and that a manager was not present during some visits. One reviewer noted a required care package, implying extra items or costs that prospective residents should inquire about. There are also remarks from family members who felt staff and management did not always listen fully or accept all truths of a situation—indicative of occasional friction between family expectations and facility responses.

Most notably, there is a serious safety concern described in one review: a resident fell and was not located for about 15 minutes in subzero conditions, resulting in a hip fracture. That account also mentions a lack of cameras and that the owner defended the facility's handling of the incident. This single but grave report contrasts sharply with the otherwise positive remarks about care and raises questions about emergency response procedures, monitoring, and transparency in investigations. Prospective residents and families should ask the facility directly about fall detection protocols, staff response times, security/monitoring systems, and how incidents are communicated and reviewed.

In summary, Riverwalk Senior Living presents as a new, clean, and pleasant community with a strong, well-regarded caregiving staff, good on-site dining, and basic activity programming—especially suited to residents seeking independent or light assisted living in a peaceful, small-town setting with attractive river views. The most common positives are staff quality and cleanliness. The principal negatives to weigh are smaller apartment sizes, more limited amenities than some competitors, occasional communication lapses (phone responsiveness and management availability), and at least one serious reported safety incident that warrants careful inquiry. Families touring the community should verify staffing levels, emergency response procedures, security/monitoring measures, and any extra costs (such as required care packages) to ensure the community matches their priorities and risk tolerance.
