    About Daybreak Inc

Daybreak Inc. is a private nonprofit in Waupun, Wisconsin, that's been helping people since 1980, and if you look up the EIN 391346200 it'll show tax-exempt status and full public records, including Form 990 filings and schedules, so you can see everything about their operations, and they focus on helping adults manage mental illness so they can live more independently, which means they work with people who have neurotic and psychotic disorders, folks who've been close to or in the hospital, and those who use neuroleptic medications or have ongoing mental health needs, and because Daybreak doesn't treat mental illness as hopeless, they work to get clients feeling hope, teaching skills, and supporting personal growth so people can move forward, do more for themselves, and connect better socially. The two main programs, Daybreak-Waupun and Daybreak-Horicon, are community based residential facilities for adults, licensed by Wisconsin's Department of Health and Social Services, and they've got a total of 22 beds between them-8 beds at Daybreak-Waupun, 12 beds at Daybreak-Horicon-and there's even a supervised apartment building right next to the Waupun facility with two beds for folks who need close supervision but might want a little more independence, and you can find the main building at 631 S Madison St in Waupun. Daybreak supports people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse issues, and for those who are homeless or at risk, they offer job readiness training, a drop-in center, skill building, and an emergency shelter along with housing programs, plus there's a space and services just for LGBTQ youth. They've always aimed to create a supportive, home-like place, and they provide care Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a staff that includes people like Executive Director Frank Will, President Jackie Bulman, and board member Lois Rehse, and they give job opportunities to caregivers, CNAs, LPNs, and RNs, though they don't take Medicare unless they're certified for it. Daybreak's main work hasn't been just with seniors but does provide long-term care for adults-sometimes seniors-who need safe, non-acute housing and ongoing support for staying well and managing day-to-day life, and the assets listed in 2024 came out to $1,551,938 by their final tax return, showing they've been a steady part of the community for a long time and a reliable support for high-risk individuals.
