      Caring clean homey memory care

I placed my mom in this small, privately owned memory-care home and have been very pleased - the staff are caring and trustworthy, treat residents like family, and communicate with us regularly. The facility is clean and homey with lovely grounds, home-cooked meals and fresh fruit, daily bathing, clean bedding, pre-packed meds and onsite care (podiatrist, haircuts), a smooth move-in and noticeable health/appearance improvement; note it's a quiet, small home with few formal activities and may not fit every age/ability need.

      Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews present a strongly positive overall impression of Metroparkway Home, with repeated emphasis on personal, compassionate care provided in a small, family-owned residential setting. Most reviewers describe high satisfaction, noting that staff treat residents like family and that caregivers are patient, attentive, and trustworthy. Several comments specifically highlight smooth move-ins, excellent family communication, and a general feeling that residents are safe and well cared for.

Care quality and staff: Care quality is the dominant positive theme. Reviews repeatedly cite one-on-one attention, daily bathing and hygiene maintenance, dependable medication administration (including pre-packed dispensing), and onsite medical services such as podiatry. Staff are described as wonderful, caring, patient, and treating residents like family. That combination of individualized attention and clinical supports contributes to families feeling confident in the safety and wellbeing of their loved ones.

Facilities and environment: The facility itself is portrayed as clean, beautiful, and well maintained. Multiple reviewers mention a homey, residential atmosphere with backyard views and attractive grounds. The small-home size is framed positively by many reviewers — contributing to a family-like environment and closer staff-resident relationships — though size also appears in the concerns below. Some reviewers noted private and semi-private room arrangements; one review explicitly mentioned a new private room while another references a semi room, indicating a mix of accommodation types.

Dining and nutrition: Dining receives consistent praise. Meals are described as home-cooked, appealing, and including fresh fruits and vegetables. Reviewers mention good meals and hydration, with visual descriptions such as meals looking good. Nutrition and food quality appear to be strengths that support resident health and satisfaction.

Additional services and amenities: Beyond medical care, reviewers appreciated onsite services such as haircuts and regular podiatry visits. These conveniences, together with medication management and close staff attention, reinforce the impression of a community that manages both clinical and daily living needs comprehensively.

Management, communication, and trust: Multiple reviewers used words like trustworthy and commended the quality of family communication. The family-owned nature of the home was mentioned as a positive factor, implying hands-on management and a more personal leadership culture. Several reviewers explicitly stated they would recommend the community and rated it highly.

Notable patterns and concerns: Two clear concerns recur. First, several reviews mention a lack of activities or limited programming; at least one reviewer explicitly stated there are “no activities,” which suggests programming may be minimal or not emphasized. Second, there is a report of an age/ability mismatch where the placement was not suitable for a particular resident’s needs. This indicates that while the home provides strong personalized care for many, it may not be appropriate for all acuity levels or for residents whose needs exceed what the small home can accommodate. A related practical note is the presence of semi-private rooms — while acceptable to some, shared accommodations may be a drawback for families seeking guaranteed private rooms.

Overall assessment: Metroparkway Home appears to excel at providing warm, attentive, and individualized care in a clean, comfortable, and homelike environment with good food and onsite basic medical and grooming services. The family-owned model and small size contribute to close staff-resident relationships and strong family communication. Prospective families should, however, verify activity programming and confirm that the resident’s care needs and abilities are a good match for the community’s level of service. If those align, the reviews suggest Metroparkway Home is a trustworthy, well-regarded option that many reviewers would recommend.

      About Metroparkway Home

Metroparkway Home is a small, family-run adult family home located in Harrison Township, Michigan, just a short walk from Lake St. Clair Metropark, where seniors can enjoy golf, tennis, walking trails, swimming, boating, fishing, and even woodland outings if they like, while also having the convenience of being near Detroit for extra city services when needed. The home has room for up to six residents and holds a license (AF500282023) as an Adult Family Home, so it stays small, quiet, and personal, with private suites and shared rooms available-each space is fully furnished and either private or semi-private, with kitchenettes and private bathrooms so you can keep a bit of your independence, and there are living spaces that keep things comfortable and homey. The air conditioning keeps it cool in summer, and every suite comes with internet, telephones, and cable TV, while maintenance, housekeeping, daily meals, and laundry are handled by staff so residents never have to fuss with chores, yard work, or cooking.

The staff at Metroparkway Home helps with daily living wherever someone needs it, whether it's getting dressed, taking medicine (including 24-hour medication management and administration), or just getting a little extra standby help nearby if somebody's unsure about moving around on their own, and there are always certified staff-sometimes nurses-onsite or on call day or night, so residents get help quickly when they need it without being left to figure things out alone, and there's also a doctor and podiatrist who visit. The home feels close-knit, and caregivers treat every resident with the same respect, dignity, and care they'd give family, which is why word often gets around about their kindness and helpfulness, and the place always looks particularly clean and well cared for. Metroparkway Home has a policy that keeps pets around as long as residents want to bring them, and it's all wheelchair accessible with roll-in showers, so seniors with physical limitations aren't left out.

There are daily community activities, social events, devotional times, and trips out-plus an on-site salon for haircuts, beauty, or barber services, along with parking for visiting family or the residents who might still drive or have friends stop by. The kitchen serves home-cooked meals three times a day, and specialty diets can be arranged, while scheduled therapies (physical, speech, and occupational) are available for those who need them, and the team even offers respite care for short-term stays when primary caregivers need a break. Hospice care is also available. Residents have access to basic medical services onsite and can request transportation for doctor's appointments or shopping.

Metroparkway Home stands out for creating a worry-free place where older adults who can't live by themselves anymore-but don't need nursing-home-level care-get the right support without pressure to give up their independence or sense of self; residents have some choice in their private or shared accommodations, the day-to-day routines honor their preferences, and the staff is always attentive to their needs. The home is clean and pretty, without the feeling of a large institution, and residents-whether male, female, or those meeting a minimum age-can expect both privacy and community. Everything here points to a safe, relaxed, and stable environment that puts the happiness and comfort of each person first, right down to keeping things simple, nutritious, quiet, and familiar, and the home's private owners work every day to keep up standards of kindness and attention. Metroparkway Home doesn't accept Medicare except as certified by CMS, and it's licensed and regularly inspected by state or local authorities like the Department of Aging or Veterans' Services, so families know the care is being watched and residents' needs aren't forgotten.
