Blossom Care Assisted Living LLC sits in San Antonio, TX, at 24803 Broad Oak Trail, and offers care for seniors in a single-story building with a warm, family-like atmosphere, and you know when you walk in that the grounds are clean, there are cozy indoor spaces, and the staff is both caring and attentive, seeing to each person's everyday needs with a high caregiver-to-resident ratio, which really helps people feel supported without losing their independence, especially since the staff can help with things like bathing, dressing, medication management, and personal care, so people don't feel alone and can still live as independently as they want. They provide assisted living, memory care, independent living, and even skilled nursing if it's needed, covering a wide range of conditions from diabetes to memory issues, with special programs and secured areas for folks with Alzheimer's or other cognitive concerns, and the building itself keeps things safe with secure, locked memory care areas, Wander Guard-type systems, and 24-hour caregivers. The rooms come as private or semi-private, fully furnished and with bathrooms and wheelchair accessible showers, and some have air conditioning, cable or satellite TV, and Wi-Fi, which lets people relax in comfort, and there are both indoor and outdoor common areas, including patios, a central fireplace, and plenty of spots to sit and chat or enjoy a quiet afternoon. Meals are served every day, with choices like vegetarian, gluten-free, low or no sodium, no sugar, or vegan to meet special diets, and guests can join in for restaurant-style dining or room service when needed, and the staff will also help with laundry, housekeeping, and even dry cleaning. For activities, there's a lot going on, like art classes, birthday and holiday parties, exercise programs, movie nights, music performances, brain fitness, trivia, and devotional visits, and that's not even counting pet therapy, outdoor trips, social events, and the book room, jacuzzi, sauna, health room, or the yard and outdoor spaces set up for relaxation and visiting with dogs, since they're pet friendly. For people who want or need it, there's help arranging transportation to medical appointments, shopping, or faith-based places, and there are caregivers available who can do diabetic care, high acuity care, insulin shots, and two-person transfers if you ask for it. Staff also speak Spanish and English, and even though outdoor smoking is allowed, the building doesn't let smoking inside private or public indoor areas. The management works with senior living advisors to help guide families with information and options, staying focused on quality, transparency, and keeping open lines of communication, and that's probably why families say it feels supportive and easy to build friendships among residents and staff, with everyone working together to keep daily life comfortable and safe. Blossom Care Assisted Living LLC, with its licensed 44-bed care community and a separate 16-bed licensed board and care home, doesn't take Medicare unless certified, and provides long-term and respite care, making sure each person gets the hands-on attention, programs, and peaceful environment they need to live as well as possible.
Small clean home; caring staff
I placed my mom here and overall I was pleased - the house is clean, homey and small (about 9 residents) with furnished private rooms, pretty grounds, a porch/patio and good food. The manager and most caregivers were caring, responsive (checked in often, available 7 days a week), helped with showers/meals, and medical visits/med ordering were available. Downsides: owners felt disingenuous at times, one nurse was unprofessional, activities and outings were minimal so social interaction can be limited, and it's not suited for higher medical or Alzheimer's needs (some residents were much more impaired and a few falls occurred). I'd recommend it for someone with low medical needs who wants an affordable, clean, small, home-like setting - not for complex medical care.
