    Clean resort-like care with caveats

I placed my mom here and overall I'm very pleased - clean, well-decorated, resort-like facility with great amenities (pool, sauna, exercise/rec room, library) and three good meals daily. Staff are generally kind, hands-on and responsive; management solved problems quickly and gave us real peace of mind. Residents are social and happy with lots of activities, and the accommodations are nice and safe. Caveat: occasional understaffing, some inconsistent caregivers, and reports of missing laundry/valuables - so stay vigilant about belongings and contracts. All told, I highly recommend it for quality care and atmosphere.

About Prairie Green at Dixie Crossing

Prairie Green at Dixie Crossing in Chicago Heights, Illinois stands as a multi-story senior living community with space for 144 residents across studio and one-bedroom apartments, offering both independent and assisted living as well as memory care for adults aged 65 and up, and they've got short-term stays, too, for folks needing somewhere safe and comfortable for a little while. The building has a mix of elegant, traditional touches that give it a welcoming, home-like feel, and residents can take part in a variety of activities, from scheduled wellness programs and exercise classes in the fitness center to art in the crafts studio and games in the billiards room or game lounge, and there's a library, a computer room, and lots of indoor and outdoor spaces for folks to relax, including a patio and walking paths. The dining room serves three chef-prepared meals a day with menus that change by season, and there's a bistro bar with happy hour, plus private dining rooms for special occasions, so residents can enjoy meals with friends, family, or visiting guests. Residents benefit from medication help, full-service housekeeping, laundry and dry-cleaning, security services, and maintenance, making living here mostly worry-free, and the staff is available any time day or night, with a clinical team on site 24 hours and visiting doctors and therapists offering health screenings, memory care, physical or occupational therapy, and personal care help with things like bathing or dressing. The setting's designed for folks to live as independently as possible, with options to age in place, and the Supportive Living license from Illinois aims to mix affordable rates with access to both assisted and independent living supports, which lets people get the help they need without moving as their needs change. Residents can use the bus lines nearby, there's complimentary transportation and parking, and the schedule includes educational, social, creative, and religious activities both on-site and off. The property has pet-friendly policies, welcoming small pets, and features things like high-speed internet, indoor events spaces, an on-site beauty salon, devotional services, and concierge-style services like grocery delivery or mail. People looking for a little peace or the company of others will find both, and with tailored care plans and a focus on daily life, the community works to make sure residents feel comfortable, supported, and busy if they want to be, whether that means joining a book club, visiting with family, or sitting outside with a neighbor in the garden.
