    Caring staff, beautiful facility, issues

I had a very positive experience - the staff were caring, professional and friendly, therapy and rehab were excellent, call lights and meds were handled promptly, and the facility is beautiful, clean and home-like. Admissions (Allison), Jamie and Katrina were especially helpful and kept families informed. My only caveats: I've noticed staffing shortages and slower response times since the Arcadia acquisition, occasional rude/unhelpful administrators (and one Social Services rep), and limited Medicaid/insurance options - but overall I would recommend it while advocating for your loved one.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with many reviewers praising the Arc at Hickory Point for its caring staff, clean and attractive facility, and effective clinical services. A recurring theme is that nursing and direct care staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive: reviews cite accurate medication administration, quick response to problems and call lights, and staff who treat residents like family. The therapy/rehab department receives frequent high marks for producing rapid recoveries; several reviewers specifically described strong therapy outcomes that aided successful transitions home. Families also appreciated routine communication from leadership, such as nightly administrator updates and helpful admissions staff, which reduced family anxiety and facilitated adjustment for new residents.

The physical environment is repeatedly described as beautiful, serene, and home-like. Reviewers note exceptionally clean facilities with a fresh smell, well-maintained landscaping, and wheelchair-accessible sidewalks. Independent Living homes are described as well-laid-out, and studio apartments offered larger-than-expected space in some cases. The community’s spiritual resources and Christian values, including chaplain services, were highlighted as positives by multiple reviewers. Several named employees (Allison, Jamie, Katrina) were singled out for being particularly helpful, responsive, and compassionate which reinforces the perception of strong frontline staff.

Dining and daily life are generally viewed favorably: food is described as tasty and contributing to an enjoyable stay, though a few reviewers mentioned meals being carb-heavy and sometimes repetitive. The atmosphere is characterized as warm and homey, with residents appearing genuinely happy and engaged; reviewers repeatedly recommend the place to others and note it as a great place to work and live. COVID-era policies were seen as protective rather than punitive by at least one reviewer, demonstrating attention to resident safety.

Despite the many positives, notable concerns and inconsistent experiences emerge across the reviews. Several reviewers reported problems with management attitudes and administrative responsiveness—descriptions include rude, arrogant, or misinformed administrators and a need for families to advocate strongly for their loved ones. Staffing shortages were reported in some accounts, with corresponding slowdowns in response times. A few reviewers perceived a decline in quality after the facility’s acquisition by Arcadia and indicated they planned to move residents out as a result. There are also isolated reports of individual staff who were unhelpful or displayed a negative attitude (one reviewer named Shawn in Social Services), and some reviewers raised issues with insurance or benefits handling and confusion during admissions.

Operationally, there are a few concrete limitations to note: the facility does not accept Medicaid, and at least one reviewer observed a lack of an on-site rehab room. Remodeling is mentioned as ongoing, which could cause occasional disruption. These practical constraints—coverage limitations, infrastructure gaps, and variability in administrative conduct—create the most common reasons for dissatisfaction among otherwise positive reviews.

In summary, the Arc at Hickory Point presents as a well-maintained, compassionate community with strong clinical and therapy services, a welcoming atmosphere, and several standout staff members who enhance family confidence. Most reviewers recommend the community and praise its cleanliness, landscaping, and resident happiness. Prospective residents and families should be aware of mixed reports about management consistency, potential staffing challenges, insurance/benefits coordination, and the facility’s non-acceptance of Medicaid. Visiting in person, asking specific questions about current staffing levels, administrative policies, insurance handling, and any remodeling timelines, and seeking direct feedback about social services interactions will help determine whether this facility is a good fit for an individual’s needs.

    About Arc at Hickory Point

Arc at Hickory Point is a senior living community where folks can move in while still active and independent and stay as their care needs change, because the place covers pretty much every care level under one roof, from independent living apartments to full skilled nursing care, which some people call a continuing care retirement community or CCRC, and that helps residents age in place without having to move out again. The people living there who need help with daily life get assisted living services like help with bathing, taking medicine, getting dressed, and regular meals, while nursing care is available for those who need 24-hour attention, rehab after a hospital stay, wound care, and other medical support, and they even have a program for memory care, meant especially for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, using secure areas and special activities to help with memory. The community is home to a wide range of folks, including those who need adult day services, respite care, hospice care, and non-medical home care, which schools call whole person care, and they accept Medicaid, which not all places do. Arc at Hickory Point includes 55+ communities, care homes, and all the main types of senior care in one place. Residents can join fitness programs, community outings, and social events, and regular housekeeping, laundry, and transportation are available, along with meals in a shared dining area. The facility works with in-house physicians and helpers to keep care close at hand, aims for strong rehab and long-term care standards, and likes to offer a pretty place to live with activities to keep folks engaged. Being part of the Arcadia network means they have a connection to other resources and affiliated places if there's ever a need, and people thinking about moving in or their families can use a map and an online form to get info or set up a tour to see what the place is actually like.
