    Beautiful campus excellent dining pricey

I'm very pleased with this large, well-kept senior living campus - the facility and apartments are beautiful (one-level, outside-access units with patios, in-kitchen washer/dryer), and the dining is spectacular - five-star, restaurant-like food and a wonderful menu. Staff from nurses, CNAs and therapists to social workers and food-service are caring and professional; maintenance responds quickly and residents are active with plenty of activities. Rehab, long-term care and independent living on one campus, good COVID management and open visitation were reassuring. Downsides: it's expensive, they charge for outings and for extra care in 15-minute increments, and I saw occasional delays getting bathroom help (about 20 minutes) and a couple cleanliness/hand-sanitizer concerns. I had limited interaction with the director, and the location (over 30 miles away) means it's not a good fit for my mom - but overall I'm delighted with the facility and would recommend it for the right family.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with repeated praise focused on the quality of hands-on care, the professionalism and compassion of frontline staff, and the breadth of services available on a large, well-maintained campus. Families consistently highlight that staff "go the extra mile" — from CNAs and nurses to therapists, social workers, and food service — and many single out staff as the primary reason for satisfaction. The facility's strength in rehabilitation and long-term care is emphasized repeatedly; reviewers report good therapy outcomes and coordinated recovery experiences, and multiple families express gratitude for the reassurance and support they received during difficult transitions.

Care quality and staff performance are the strongest themes. Reviewers describe caring, responsive nurses and CNAs who helped residents with complex needs (for example, mobility limitations requiring leg braces and walkers). Social workers and therapy teams are mentioned as active participants in care plans, and staff involvement in family communication is frequently praised. That said, a few comments point to occasional mishaps or lapses in care, and some families reported delays in personal-care response times — notably bathroom assistance waits of around 20 minutes — indicating that while overall care is strong, there are pockets where triage and response processes could be improved.

The facility and campus receive high marks for physical environment and amenities. Reviewers describe modern, well-kept rooms, ongoing repainting and recarpeting, and attractive common spaces including a large, opulent dining room with high ceilings and a "five-star" restaurant-like atmosphere. Dining is a repeatedly praised feature: the menu, food quality, and dining setting are called spectacular by several reviewers. Apartments are described as large and functional with in-unit conveniences such as washer/dryer hookups and kitchen counters; one-level layouts, outside patios, accessible grounds, a pool, chapel, and active social offerings (bridge, golf cart rides) contribute to a lifestyle-oriented environment. The campus model — assisted living, rehab, and long-term care in one complex — is a clear advantage for residents who may need escalating levels of care.

Activities, community life, and family engagement are other strengths. Multiple reviewers note plentiful social activities, an active resident population, and opportunities to socialize. Pet-friendliness (references to a dog named Max), open visitation policies with indoor masking, and a welcoming resident community are cited as positive quality-of-life factors. Reception and front-desk staff earned specific praise for helpfulness and warmth, and maintenance responsiveness is repeatedly noted as quick and effective.

There are recurring concerns around cost, transparency, and some operational details. Several reviews mention additional charges — for outings and for extra care billed in 15-minute increments — which some families found surprising or burdensome. The facility is described as "very expensive" by multiple reviewers, and distance to the facility was a practical issue for some (more than 30 miles away). Communication from upper management or the director was flagged as limited by a few families who wanted more information or contact. A small number of reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with a few staff members (describing them as unimpressive or offering "fanciful tales") or felt the overall environment was not the right fit for their particular family member.

Safety and infection control receive generally positive notes — reviewers mentioned good COVID-19 management — but some basic hygiene and supply issues were raised (e.g., concerns about touchscreen cleanliness and a perceived lack of hand sanitizer in some areas). These are relatively isolated observations but worth addressing as they relate to overall perception of safety and attentiveness.

In summary, Four Seasons Retirement Center RESIDENTAL is consistently described as a high-quality, well-resourced senior living community with exemplary frontline staff, strong clinical and rehab services, excellent dining, attractive facilities, and a robust activity program. The main areas for improvement emerging from reviews are faster triage and response for personal care needs, clearer communication and transparency about extra charges, attention to small cleanliness/supply details, and efforts to ensure the large size of the campus does not create impersonal experiences for some residents. For families prioritizing clinical support, dining, and campus amenities, reviewers generally recommend the community; for those sensitive to cost, distance, or seeking very small-scale, highly personalized environments, a few reviewers suggest it may not be the best fit.
