    Warm family-like staff, spotless apartments

I'm very happy here - the staff are warm, attentive and family-like, the building and apartments are spotless, meals are homemade and restaurant-quality, and there are plenty of activities, salon/podiatry, laundry/housekeeping and social dining. A few people noted issues with medical/management communication, slow alarm responses or extra fees, so double-check those details for your situation. Overall I'd highly recommend this community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Oakmont Parkway Senior Community is strongly positive, with frequent and repeated praise for staff, cleanliness, dining and activities, tempered by a smaller but significant set of concerns about management consistency, some service charges, and variability in medical/outsource care. The dominant themes that recur across many reviews are compassionate, attentive caregivers and executive leadership, a spotless, updated facility, and high-quality, home-cooked dining with restaurant-style presentation. Many reviewers emphasize a warm, family-like atmosphere where staff know residents by name, regular housekeeping and laundry are appreciated, and common areas and decor create a hotel-like, comfortable environment.

Care quality and staffing receive the most consistent positive commentary. Multiple reviews single out specific leaders and staff members (frequent praise for the executive director and activity staff) and describe caregivers as caring, passionate and responsive. Low staff turnover and hands-on directors are cited as reasons families feel residents are well looked after and welcomed. At the same time, a minority of reviews report rude or unresponsive individuals, cold reception from replacement staff, or declining attentiveness in certain periods — indicating that while staffing is generally a strong point, experiences can vary and are sensitive to leadership and staff changes.

Facilities and housekeeping are uniformly strong points. Reviewers describe the building as clean, modern, freshly painted and well maintained; many call attention to spotless rooms, tidy linens, and quick maintenance responses. Apartments are often described as updated and well laid out, though a few specific notes mention smaller bathrooms, limited shower accessibility and lack of patios on some units. Common spaces, elegant foyers and covered patios are highlighted repeatedly and contribute to the overall appealing environment.

Dining is another major positive area: a high number of reviewers praise scratch-made meals (soups, pot roast, chicken noodle soup) and the involvement of residents in menu planning. Restaurant-style dining, portion sizes and varied menus are frequently mentioned. However, there are also several complaints about food quality from other reviewers — overcooked rice or vegetables, cold plates, reduced portions, and too many carbohydrate/cheese-heavy offerings. COVID-era dining changes (delivered meals, closed communal dining at times) were noted widely — most families accepted these as safety measures, but restrictions on family dining and visitor access were painful for some.

Activities and social programming receive strong endorsement overall: active calendars with Bingo, rosary/mass, exercise and chair classes, clubs, trips and entertainment contribute to an upbeat, social community. Activity leaders are praised by name in many reviews. That said, some reviewers report a decline in activities after staff turnover or mention boredom on weekends, suggesting programming can vary with personnel changes or during pandemic restrictions.

Medical and third-party services are a mixed area. On-site offerings like therapy/rehab, podiatry, beautician services, and occasional in-building pharmacy services are listed as conveniences. Positive notes describe accommodating rehab after hospitalization and available clinical support. Conversely, several reviews express frustration with outsourced medical teams, inconsistent home health providers, frequent changes to medical providers, and perceived lapses in accountability or slow alarm responses. A few families explicitly moved out or stopped recommending the community because of such medical-service concerns. Reviewers also caution that Oakmont Parkway leans toward independent/enhanced independent living; it is not always a fit for those requiring intensive memory care.

Management, communication and fees show a clear split in reviewer experience. Many reviews commend executive leadership, responsive office staff, and supervisors who keep families informed. Several people specifically call out leaders by name for being compassionate and hands-on. By contrast, a notable number of reviews describe management that is unresponsive, blame-shifting, or unprofessional (including named criticisms), and some mention leadership turnover that affected resident experience. Financial transparency and billing practices are recurring concerns: reviewers note higher price points, ala-carte pricing for certain assistance (dining-room transport, showers), and unexpected extra charges. Families are advised to verify what is included versus billed separately and clarify policies on transport and care assistance fees.

Taken together, these reviews paint Oakmont Parkway as a well-kept, activity-rich community with strong daily living supports, excellent housekeeping and broadly praised culinary offerings. For prospective residents seeking an active, social independent or enhanced independent living environment with hotel-like amenities and attentive staff, Oakmont Parkway frequently receives strong recommendations. However, families whose loved ones need higher levels of medical supervision or memory-care services, or who are especially sensitive to billing surprises and management stability, should ask detailed questions about current leadership, medical provider arrangements, response times, and all fees before committing. Given the variability reported around management and some medical services, an in-person visit, meeting current staff, and confirming written policies on services and charges is advisable to ensure expectations align with the present operation.
