    Compassionate clean secure family-oriented facility

I placed a family member at Beechwood and am grateful for the exceptional, compassionate staff who treated him like family and provided skilled, individualized care. The single-level building is spotless and odor-free, with private rooms (some modest in size) and a secure courtyard. Meals are home-style and activities/outings run most days; management is communicative and many staff have long tenure. It's not a shiny new facility and there's been occasional staff turnover and a controversial COVID lockdown, but overall we felt safe, well cared for, and would recommend Beechwood.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Beechwood Manor Inc are predominantly positive, with a strong and recurring emphasis on the staff’s kindness, attentiveness and personal connection with residents. Reviewers repeatedly describe a family-like, homey environment where staff know residents by name, deliver individualized care, and maintain open communication with families. Cleanliness and upkeep are repeatedly noted as excellent, along with praise for specific employees and leaders who are seen as compassionate, responsive and hands-on.

Care quality and clinical services: Multiple reviews highlight robust clinical capabilities — medication management, wound care, incontinence assistance and ambulation support are explicitly referenced. The facility appears to support complex care needs and end-of-life care, with families crediting staff for steady, solution-oriented clinical management. Memory care is an identified strength: an integrated memory program with Wander Guard and a secure private courtyard contribute to perceived safety for residents with cognitive impairment. Reviewers also mention respite care availability and plans for additional day-care services, indicating a range of care options beyond long-term placement.

Staffing, leadership and communication: One of the clearest strengths across reviews is the staff — from nursing leadership (names such as Hillary, Cyndie, Colleen and Sandra appear positively) to aides, med techs, kitchen and cleaning crews. Many reviewers underscore long-tenured direct-hire staff, fast laundry service, spotless cleaning, and caring kitchen staff who accommodate diets and provide home-cooked meals. Communication with families is frequently described as proactive and transparent (calls, texts and manager involvement when issues arise). However, there are recurring caveats: some reviewers report overworked aides, occasional rude staff members, and higher turnover on night shifts. A few families reported poor experiences tied to specific employees or shifts, suggesting some variability in day-to-day staffing quality.

Facility, accommodations and dining: The physical environment is commonly described as clean, safe and comfortable, with praise for single-level layout, private rooms with courtyard views, and a small community feel. On-site amenities like laundry, cable and landline hookups are noted as conveniences. At the same time, multiple reviewers point out that Beechwood is not a new or luxury facility — rooms and furnishings can be dated or smaller than in newer communities, and some reviewers described darker or less-modern common areas. Dining is generally praised for scratch-cooked meals, fresh produce, and special touches (ice cream, flower days), though a minority of reviews mention issues such as overly salty food or that the menu may not suit very picky eaters.

Activities and social programming: Most reviewers report a robust activities calendar — daily exercise, outings, faith services, regular entertainment, and programs that sometimes run into the evening. Many residents are described as social and engaged. A few comments indicate limited activities or that certain residents (or activity staff) were not a great match for the offered programming, so individual suitability can vary.

Safety, compliance and controversies: Beechwood has a long licensing history and several reviewers cite consistent passing of state inspections and transparent pricing. Despite this, there are significant negative reports that cannot be overlooked: several reviews allege severe COVID-era restrictive practices (forced testing, family exclusion, intimidation) and at least one alleged eviction and investigation relating to a dementia patient. Others mention state-violation claims or management being under scrutiny. These controversies are serious in tone and have led some families to remove residents and report distrust. They represent a clear pattern of concern for families who experienced or perceived heavy-handed policies or administrative misconduct.

Patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is a small, family-run facility with exceptional frontline caregiving, strong cleanliness and an intimate atmosphere that suits residents needing personalized attention and memory support. The trade-offs are an older building with modest rooms, possible variability in certain staff or shifts, and a few serious governance and COVID-era incidents reported by some families. Prospective families should weigh the strong, frequently repeated praise for direct care and day-to-day life against the reports of management controversies and isolated negative experiences.

Bottom line: Beechwood Manor appears to be a 'hidden gem' for those prioritizing compassionate, hands-on care, close family-style relationships and a clean, safe environment — particularly for memory care residents. At the same time, the facility has had documented or alleged administrative concerns and a small number of troubling COVID-era complaints that families should investigate further. Recommended next steps for families considering placement: ask about recent state inspections, staffing stability (especially nights), current COVID and visitation policies, examples of how grievances were handled, and to meet direct-care staff during a tour to assess fit and communication style.
