    Kind staff, clean, comfortable, excellent

I toured and now live here - the staff are kind, professional and responsive, the facility is clean, hotel-like and well-kept, and the apartments are comfortable. There are endless activities and excellent on-site rehab/therapy with strong outcomes; dining is generally good, but it's pricey and often full.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive but mixed; many reviewers praise Wexner Heritage Village for its caring staff, strong therapy/rehabilitation outcomes, comprehensive services, and attractive amenities, while a smaller but notable set of reviews raise serious concerns about inconsistent cleanliness and occasional lapses in basic care. The most frequent praise centers on staff quality — reviewers repeatedly describe staff as knowledgeable, personable, responsive and professional. Multiple family members and residents specifically highlight the nursing and rehab teams, citing concrete improvements such as learning to walk with a walker and effective therapists. Staff also receive credit for helpful communication, care coordination, assistance with finances, and responsiveness when problems arise (with several reports that charge nurses or administrators resolved issues when notified). The facility’s orientation toward continuum care (assisted living through nursing and hospice), on-site health staff including a gerontologist, and month-to-month admission with no buy-in are mentioned as important practical strengths and selling points for families seeking flexibility and integrated medical oversight.

Facilities and amenities are another repeated strength. Numerous reviewers describe the campus as clean, well-kept, and hotel-like, with attractive common areas, a pool, gym/workout room, and well-appointed dining spaces. Apartments come in a variety of floorplans and sizes (some with balconies or fireplaces), and many reviewers found rooms decently sized and comfortable for limited mobility. The location next to the Jewish Community Center, nearby theaters and art centers, and the presence of kosher meals and frequent Jewish events are repeatedly noted as valuable cultural and convenience features. Transportation services, including trips to grocery stores, drugstores and doctor appointments, plus wellness features like a wellness button and morning check-ins, add to the sense that everyday needs are well supported.

The activity program receives consistent positive mention. Reviewers list weekly activities — movies, bingo, mahjong, memory classes — along with field trips, musical entertainers and outings. Many describe a lively, social environment with a wide range of programming that helps residents stay engaged. The community vibe is characterized by many as warm, home-like, and safe; some reviewers used terms such as elegant, luxurious or high-end, and appreciated personalized touches and a prideful community culture.

Despite the many positives, several recurring concerns warrant attention. A subset of reviews report troubling instances of poor patient care or neglect: dirty rooms, sticky bedside surfaces, call lights not functioning, sores from bed rails and claims that care was not carried through. These reports appear less frequent than the positive comments but are significant because they describe safety and dignity issues. There are also mixed reports about dining: while many enjoy the food and note kosher options, others describe greasy meals or serving problems — though some reviews say food quality has improved over time. Staffing variability is another pattern: several reviewers noted staffing changes that affected consistency of care, and some said the front desk/greeting or tour experience was underwhelming. A few reviewers explicitly stated the facility is expensive, full or not suitable for certain loved ones, and one or two said the place was "not the place it once was," signaling perceived decline by long-term observers.

In sum, the dominant themes are an overall strong reputation for staff compassion and therapy outcomes, a robust activities program and attractive, well-maintained common spaces, combined with practical advantages like flexible admission and on-site clinical resources. However, the presence of isolated but serious reports of cleanliness lapses and care failures, plus variability in food and staffing, suggest prospective residents and families should investigate those areas carefully during visits. Recommended points for a tour or conversation based on these reviews include checking a sample private room for cleanliness and functioning equipment, asking about staffing levels and turnover, reviewing recent incident/inspection records, sampling current menus and meal service procedures, and asking for references from families of recent rehab or long-term residents. Many reviewers highly recommend Wexner Heritage Village, but the mixed reports across cleanliness and continuity of care are important considerations for anyone evaluating the community.

    About Wexner Heritage Village

Wexner Heritage Village sits in Columbus and has over 70 years of experience caring for seniors and their families, carrying a focus on health, dignity, and Jewish faith-guided care. The campus includes several buildings and programs that support a range of needs, from independent and assisted living, to skilled nursing, long-term care, memory care, and hospice. Seniors will find choices like Creekside at the Village, which has upscale apartments meant for independent living, with private bathrooms, walk-in closets, washers and dryers, and a range of one- and two-bedroom floor plans. There's subsidized senior housing too, such as Heritage Tower and Bexley Heritage Apartments, where rent subsidies help residents connect to community-based services. Assisted living at Creekside gives help with bathing, dressing, medication reminders, weekly housekeeping, and scheduled rides. Residents use amenities like a fitness center, gym classes, a residents' lounge, a beauty and barber salon, courtyard, and meditation spaces.

Those who need more help can get skilled nursing and chronic disease management, with private rooms and complete personal security. Wexner Heritage House is the long-term care facility, where residents receive healthcare and take part in intergenerational activities with young people. There's also memory care at Geraldine Schottenstein Cottage, which has staff trained in dementia support, private rooms with bathrooms, a family-style dining space, living room with fireplace, large kitchen, and a secured outdoor courtyard. Seniors with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's, dementia, cancer, or other long-term illnesses can find care here, along with post-hospital rehabilitation for stroke, injury, or surgery recovery. Therapists give physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and programs change based on personal needs with re-evaluations every 30 days.

There's a partnership with American Renal Associates, giving access to a 15-station dialysis suite at the Saul and Sonia Modes Schottenstein Dialysis Pavilion, and kidney care through the Kidney Center of Bexley. Medical lab work, x-rays, and radiology testing get done on-site, with OhioHealth primary care services at the Polster Medical Center. Nurses and aides cover the campus 24 hours a day, and there are also physicians, rehabilitation therapists, and social workers supporting the care. Specialized services extend to adults with developmental disabilities and people needing hospice through Zusman Hospice. Adult Day Care is available for daytime supervision and activities, and spiritual care supports residents' beliefs. Community life includes activities, fitness, housekeeping, laundry, private dining spaces, scheduled transportation, and special events. Wexner Heritage Village works as part of the OhioHealth Skilled Nursing Facility Continuing Care Network and has a comprehensive care approach recommended by area hospitals and doctors, making it a steady choice for different stages of senior living.
