    Great care, amenities; administration lacking

I live here and love the beautiful, well-kept campus - pool, lake, tennis courts, fitness room, beauty shop, church, food court and multiple housing options - with warm meals to the door and generally good food. Many nurses, aides and staff are compassionate, consistent and lifesaving; maintenance and housekeeping are reliable. That said, administration is horrible: chronic understaffing, poor communication, broken promises and profit-driven decisions have led to neglect and residents suffering. I'm grateful for the fantastic caregivers and would recommend this place only with caution about management.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews present a mixed but strongly polarized picture of Baptist Village of Enid. A large portion of comments praise the community for excellent hands-on care, compassionate staff, abundant amenities, and well-maintained housing. At the same time, multiple reviewers raise very serious concerns about administration, staffing levels, communication, and isolated reports of abuse or neglect. Taken together, the feedback suggests a facility with many strengths at the resident-care and amenities level but with notable management and operational risks that can materially affect resident experience.

Care quality and staff: Many reviewers emphasize the high quality of care provided by nurses, nursing assistants, and caregivers, describing staff as compassionate, patient, lifesaving, and family-like. Several people explicitly recommend the place based on the hands-on care and the attention residents receive. Admissions are described as helpful and patient, and there are repeated comments that particular employees or teams provide dedicated and consistent presence. However, counterbalancing these positive reports are very concerning claims of understaffing and neglect; some reviews state that short staffing has caused patients to suffer, and there are allegations of abuse. These contradictions suggest variability in care tied to staffing levels, specific shifts or units, and possibly turnover of personnel.

Facilities, housing and activities: The community receives consistent praise for its physical plant and lifestyle options. Reviewers mention an extensive amenity set — indoor pool, exercise room, tennis courts, beauty shop, massage services, an on-site church, lake, and a food court — and multiple living arrangements including cottages, duplexes, apartments, assisted living, and skilled nursing. Housekeeping and maintenance are repeatedly called reliable and thorough, and duplexes/cottages are described as well-cared-for. Monthly activities are offered with flexible participation, which reviewers appreciate. Dining is a strength in several accounts: warm meals delivered to rooms, breakfast options in the food court, and overall satisfaction with food quality.

Management, communication and organizational concerns: Several reviews call out administration as a major weakness. Complaints include poor communication, broken promises, seldom returning family calls, and a general characterization of the administration as “horrible.” There are also mentions of employees being fired and a perception that profit motives sometimes override resident care. These operational concerns appear to be the principal driver of the polarized reviews: while direct-care staff earn praise, families and reviewers express frustration with management responsiveness and follow-through, which can amplify any negative events (e.g., understaffing or incidents) into larger trust issues.

Patterns and implications for prospective families: The dominant themes are (1) excellent direct care and a robust set of amenities that support a high-quality retirement living experience, and (2) significant management and staffing red flags that have led to reports of poor outcomes for some residents. For prospective residents or families, the mixed reviews indicate it is important to do targeted due diligence: ask about current staffing ratios, turnover rates, how the facility handles complaints and incident reporting, recent inspection and complaint history, and examples of how administration has addressed past problems. In-person visits during different shifts, conversations with current residents and families, and reviewing state inspection reports can help determine whether the positive aspects (caregivers, amenities, cleanliness, food) will be consistent and whether the administrative concerns have been resolved.

Bottom line: Baptist Village of Enid is frequently lauded for its caregiving staff, amenities, housing options and cleanliness — making it an attractive option on many fronts — but the recurring, serious criticisms about administration, understaffing, and isolated reports of neglect/abuse are red flags that warrant careful investigation before moving forward. If you prioritize strong direct-care relationships and amenities, this community shows many strengths; if administrative responsiveness and consistent staffing are critical, verify recent improvements and current practices thoroughly.
