    Mostly positive independent living experience

I toured and moved my mom here and overall I'm very pleased - friendly, caring staff (special shout to Lisa and Nancy), welcoming residents, clean rooms and cheerful seasonal decor. The community is active with lots of events (Italian nights, Fish Fry Fridays, bus trips, exercise classes) and strong amenities - dining room entertainment, fitness, game rooms, underground parking and reliable transportation to appointments. Maintenance and management are mostly responsive and professional, though I saw occasional delays, noise from construction, and older areas that could use updates. Food and care quality were generally good but mixed in some reports - check respite/assisted-care details and staffing continuity before committing. For independent living and social, I highly recommend it; just confirm higher-level care, costs, and communication expectations first.

    Summary review

Overall impression ProHealth Regency Senior Communities New Berlin receives a large volume of largely positive feedback around its physical campus, social life, and many amenities, while also generating recurring concerns about food quality, cost, and inconsistent care experiences. Many reviewers emphasize that the community is attractive, clean, and well maintained, with substantial recent renovations and new-build sections. The campus is described as large with abundant common space, wide hallways, storage, outdoor walking paths, fountain and gardens, and facilities such as an on-site theater, game room, pub, computer room, beauty parlor, and on-property store. These physical attributes, combined with a robust activity schedule, contribute to a strong sense of community for many residents and families.

Care quality and staff Staff and caregiving are the most frequently discussed and most mixed area. A large number of reviews praise staff as friendly, caring, helpful, and passionate; named staff (for example Lisa, Nancy, Arleen, Mara) and specific teams (nurses, dining staff, maintenance) receive repeated positive mentions. Reviewers describe attentive maintenance, continuity with familiar staff, hospice support, medication coordination services, timely laundry, and a general sense of safety and reassurance. Conversely, there are multiple reports of inconsistent staff availability, turnover, and communication gaps. A small but important subset of reviewers reported serious lapses in care (examples include being left on the toilet for extended periods and lack of assistance after falls) and described unresponsiveness from caregivers. These incidents are outliers compared with the many positive accounts but are significant because they speak to variability in staff performance and the importance of staffing levels and supervision.

Facilities, amenities, and activities The facility's amenity set and activity programming are consistently praised. Residents and visitors highlight an active social calendar—arts and crafts, card games, exercise classes, nightly social evenings, pub nights, Italian nights, seafood Fridays, specialty dining events, bus trips to stores and venues, and in-dining entertainment. Fitness offerings, garden and walking paths, and an on-site rehab/nursing center are seen as strong supports for active independent living and for transitions when higher levels of care are needed. Practical conveniences such as transportation to appointments, underground parking, a car wash station, and secured entries add to the community appeal. The strong list of amenities combined with ambassador programs and family dining options fosters a 'country club' or very social living environment for many residents.

Dining and meals Dining is a frequently mentioned strength in terms of variety, specialty nights, and the social role of meals, but quality and consistency are notable pain points. Multiple reviewers praise menu flexibility, specialty events, and friendly dining staff, and some rate food close to 4/5. However, many others criticize food quality—describing bland, processed, or repetitive offerings (canned vegetables, Salisbury steak issues, disappointing desserts) and feeling that dining does not always justify the cost. These mixed assessments suggest that while the dining program is extensive and socially successful, culinary execution and consistency are areas that some residents and families find lacking.

Management, communication, and financial concerns Operationally, many reviewers say the community is well-run, organized, and responsive, with leadership that handles problems and communicates well. Several families reported excellent tour experiences and clear explanations of services. At the same time, there are recurring complaints about administrative communication, billing surprises (for example an unannounced extra month's rent), complicated or concerning lease provisions (rent-after-death clauses), and insufficient transparency about which services are included versus add-ons (medication services, for instance). A number of reviewers urged caution and careful contract review. These themes indicate that administrative practices and transparency are uneven and can materially affect family satisfaction.

Value, availability, and fit Cost and availability are consistent themes. The community is characterized by many as higher-end and correspondingly expensive; some reviewers feel the price is justified by the facilities and staffing, while others feel the cost is high relative to food quality or certain service inconsistencies. A waitlist and limited respite care capacity are mentioned, signaling good demand but reduced short-term availability. Multiple reviewers emphasize that fit is individual—some find Regency perfect for an active independent lifestyle with robust supports, whereas others found it too large, not the right fit for memory-care needs, or better suited to residents who don't require frequent hands-on assistance.

Patterns and recommendations Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a popular, amenity-rich campus with a strong social environment and many well-liked staff members, but with variability in dining quality, staffing consistency, and administrative transparency. Prospective residents and families will likely appreciate the clean, active, and well-equipped community, but should conduct thorough due diligence: tour multiple sectors (including assisted living if applicable), ask for specifics on staffing ratios and response times, request sample menus and a dining trial if possible, review lease and billing policies carefully, and ask about policies and experience handling falls and memory-care transitions. For families prioritizing a socially vibrant, well-appointed independent living setting with access to on-site rehab and medical coordination, Regency often meets expectations. For those whose primary concern is consistent hands-on caregiving or top-tier culinary offerings at the price point, the mixed reports suggest investigating those areas closely before committing.

About ProHealth Regency Senior Communities New Berlin

ProHealth Regency Senior Communities New Berlin sits on a 31-acre campus, surrounded by walking trails, wildlife viewing areas, and a private three-acre lake, so residents can enjoy fresh air and quiet time outside if they want to, and the place itself has an old hospital building from 1966, now used as a 63-bed assisted living wing, alongside a newer wing with 307 independent apartments meant for older adults who want to live on their own with some extra support. The buildings and grounds offer ranch-style homes and apartments, with floor plans ranging from one-bedroom units at 594 square feet to two-bedrooms with two baths and 721 square feet, and some spaces even go up to 1,240 square feet, giving folks a choice if they want something a little bigger. The facility, managed by Capri Communities in partnership with ProHealth Care and overseen by Wimmer Communities, has a focus on serving independent seniors, those who need daily help, and people needing memory care, and calls its memory care programming Blu Grotto®, which is research-based and tries to engage mind, body, and spirit to keep people sharp and feeling good.

The staff and building support independent living, assisted living, respite care, and memory care, but the assisted living wing specifically only takes seniors who need help with daily routines like bathing, eating meals, managing medicine, or getting around but don't have dementia or cognitive problems, since that's a different area and care type. Folks in independent living have access to age-restricted activities and clubs, with plenty of on-site and off-site activities, plus religious services, a billiards lounge, woodworking shop, movie theater, bar/lounge, library, bistro, café, and meeting rooms, plus they have things like a beauty salon, barber shop, computer room, fireplace in the common lounging areas, and game rooms too. Amenities include full tubs, wheelchair-accessible showers, an outdoor patio garden, fitness center, TV lounge, and organized activities designed for social, educational, and entertainment purposes that help people keep their minds and bodies moving. Meals are served restaurant-style, with guest meals offered, and there's complimentary transportation and resident parking to help everybody stay active and independent.

The facility also provides housekeeping, beauticians, skilled nursing, and both respite and hospice care, as well as accessibility features throughout the campus. Residents can join a variety of structured programs, religious services-including Protestant, Catholic, and other faiths-and there's a visiting chaplain for those who want it. Management encourages a family-like feeling, claiming staff are friendly and trained, and help residents keep their independence as much as possible. Regency's memory care neighborhoods try to stay calm and supportive, focusing on peaceful routines while also encouraging some fun or engagement. Renovations over the years have shaped the space, but that old hospital building required a lot more expensive fixes, so parts of the assisted living area have faced changes and even possible closure, with staff and residents given options to move to partner facilities run by ProHealth Care or Capri Communities. Rental prices here are higher than many places in Wisconsin, with monthly rent ranging from about $3,700 to $5,400. The campus is close to stores, restaurants, and entertainment, supporting an active senior lifestyle. Regency stays committed to equal housing opportunities and tries to create a warm, welcoming environment for seniors with different levels of care needs.
