    Beautiful but mismanaged; safety concerns

I love the brand-new, luxury feel - Zen lobby, spa-like waterfall, top-of-the-line gym, clean pool, and a friendly, community vibe - the apartments are beautiful and well-appointed. But I'm frustrated by management: favoritism, slow/unresponsive communication, long delays assigning (and charging for) parking, and security gaps - garage cameras/off-duty, courtyard gate damaged, my car was vandalized. Amenities can be overpriced and not always kept clean, sidewalks/roads aren't reliably shoveled, and it doesn't feel like a true senior-only community. Great place physically, but management and safety issues make me cautious about moving in long-term.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive regarding the physical property and the lifestyle potential, while showing notable and recurring concerns about management practices, security, and maintenance. Multiple reviewers praise the property as brand-new, well-designed, and resort-like: highlights include a spa-like Zen lobby with waterfall and greenery, clean and spotless apartments, an expansive and well-equipped gym (even CrossFit-style options), an outdoor pool, large open common areas suitable for big gatherings, and upscale conveniences such as an on-site Starbucks. Many reviewers described the atmosphere as community-focused, friendly, and long-term oriented, with staff often characterized as helpful, sincere, and individually attentive.

Staff and resident experience show a bifurcated pattern. Numerous comments describe friendly, informative, and personalized interactions with staff and management, and some reviewers explicitly note an on-site manager who is responsive. These accounts portray a community where residents feel respected and supported, with a strong community pride and a luxury, welcoming environment. At the same time, an important subset of reviews reports unresponsiveness, poor communication (missed or unanswered emails and voicemails), and perceived favoritism or discriminatory treatment. This inconsistency suggests that resident experiences vary significantly and that service quality may depend on specific staff members, timing, or individual circumstances.

Facilities and amenities are consistently cited as a major strength. Reviewers frequently mention the newness and high quality of the apartments, spotless common areas, and an extensive amenity package (pool, gym, activity programs, party spaces). The property is noted as pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible, with activities and services available for residents who are independent and who prefer to prepare their own meals. However, some reviewers say certain amenities feel overpriced and that upkeep is inconsistent: several comments report amenities or common areas not always kept clean and one report that a common room went unused due to the plague (likely pandemic-related impacts on communal use).

Security, parking, and property maintenance are the clearest areas of concern. Multiple reports describe unequal parking practices—free parking passes for some residents while others pay fees—and delays in assigning parking spaces. Serious security issues were raised: the garage allegedly lacks cameras or patrol, cameras have been reported as not turned on, and one reviewer reported car vandalism. The courtyard gate being damaged and the observation that the property offers easy access to buildings and common areas further amplify safety worries. Operational maintenance problems also appear: reviewers reported poor snow removal (roads not plowed, sidewalks not shoveled) and an impression of lazy or inattentive management in addressing these issues.

Community composition and positioning as a senior living option also come up. While many reviewers describe a strong sense of community and family-friendly atmosphere, several notes indicate this is not a strictly age-restricted senior-only environment—children and a diverse resident mix are present. That is a positive for some (family-friendly, lively community) and a drawback for others seeking a traditional senior-only setting.

In summary, Arden Active Living is widely admired for its new construction, upscale amenities, and attractive resort-like design, with many residents praising staff friendliness and a strong community feel. However, recurring and substantive concerns about management consistency, fairness (especially around parking), security (garage cameras, gate, and at least one vandalism report), and property maintenance (snow removal, cleanliness of some amenities) are significant and could materially affect resident satisfaction and safety. Prospective residents should weigh the appealing physical environment and community advantages against these operational and security issues and consider asking management for specifics on parking policy, security camera operations, maintenance protocols, and snow removal practices before committing.
