    Bright airy apartment, friendly staff

I live in a bright, airy corner one-bed with a gorgeous treetop view - staff and residents are consistently friendly, helpful and visible, there are lots of activities (yoga/Zumba/taichi, bingo) and an on-site senior center, reliable transport, shopping and a hospital nearby, and rent/meals are affordable. My only real complaints are the cigarette smell, occasional loud music and drunks outside, a dirty elevator, and the 8th-floor laundry being out for months (hard on handicapped tenants).

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews of Educators Apartments is strongly positive about the people, community, apartments, location, and value, while calling out a handful of recurring maintenance and exterior-safety issues. Reviewers repeatedly praise the staff — described as informative, patient, helpful, visible and courteous — and they single out the director as “nice” and approachable. Those comments suggest that day-to-day interpersonal care and management interaction are strengths. Many reviewers say they were impressed and would choose to live there, which points to a generally high level of resident satisfaction.

The social environment and programming are another consistent strength. Multiple reviewers highlight a friendly resident population and an active social community anchored by an on-site senior center. Organized programming is broad and regular: Yoga, Zumba, Tai chi, and Bingo are mentioned explicitly, along with “many activities” and daily events. This combination of staff involvement and program variety creates an engaged, social atmosphere that appeals to older adults looking for community and structured activity.

Apartment units and the property’s location get strong positive mentions. Apartments are described as bright, light, and airy — with several reviewers specifically praising a bright corner one-bedroom unit and gorgeous treetop views that include birds, squirrels, and deer. The property’s convenience is emphasized: reliable transportation, shopping directly outside the front door, and proximity to a hospital are important practical benefits for seniors. Reviewers also comment on affordable rent, affordable meals, and good amenities, reinforcing the perception of solid value.

Despite these positives, several tangible concerns recur in the reviews. There are multiple reports of a lingering smell of cigarettes in or around the building, and comments about loud music and intoxicated people outside during some periods, which raise both comfort and safety concerns for residents. Building maintenance issues are noted as well: a dirty elevator was mentioned, and perhaps most significantly, the laundry on the 8th floor has been out of service for months. Reviewers specifically noted that this has impacted handicapped tenants who can no longer use laundry conveniently. Together, those items indicate areas where facility upkeep and exterior security/noise control are inconsistent with the otherwise well-regarded resident experience.

Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a cooperative, well-staffed senior community with strong social programming, pleasant apartments, and excellent location/value — but with a small number of operational and environmental issues that management should address. The positive comments about staff visibility and a “nice director” suggest management has the interpersonal capacity to respond; however, extended problems such as prolonged laundry outages and recurring cigarette odor point to gaps in maintenance and enforcement of building policies. Prospective residents should weigh the strong social life, accessible services, and affordable pricing against the noted concerns about building cleanliness, laundry access, and occasional exterior noise or intoxicated individuals nearby.

Educators Apartments offers respite care for short-term breaks, long-term skilled nursing for those who need more medical help, and even hospice care when needed. The atmosphere here is pretty quiet and calm, with birds, squirrels, and sometimes deer around, and common areas designed to encourage friendly social time, so you'll often see neighbors chatting or doing activities together.

Both state and federal laws protect everyone living at Educators Apartments, including LGBTQ seniors, and there's a staff member, usually Joan Sinko, managing the place, along with a senior service coordinator onsite to help with questions or service needs. The building has parking available, though details aren't always clear, and for safety, there's a Police Department on site too, which is handy.
