    Bright affordable studio; exercise caution

I love Faircrest - my studio is bright, affordable, has a full kitchen, lots of natural light, laundry and elevator on the same floor, and friendly staff with good activities. Staff and the director are generally helpful and get things done (handrails installed, timely fixes), but I experienced discrimination due to my disability: the apartment manager canceled my lease and I had to reapply, and communication can be poor. I'm worried about security and maintenance (entry doors stick and don't always close; carpet needs shampooing). Overall I'm satisfied and would recommend with caution because of the discrimination and safety concerns.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive on basic housing quality and community amenities while raising several significant concerns around safety, management consistency, and occasional maintenance problems. Many reviewers praise the apartments themselves—clean, nicely laid-out units with good natural light, studio floor plans that include full kitchens, affordable rent, and a quiet, well-kept environment. Practical building features are repeatedly noted as positives: on-floor laundry, elevator access, and added safety features like hand rails in showers. Several respondents explicitly said they would recommend Faircrest Apartments or said they "love" the community, indicating strong satisfaction among a portion of residents.

Staff and management responses are a clear mixed theme. Multiple reviews highlight friendly, welcoming staff and an "informative" director who communicates well. Some reviewers emphasize responsiveness and prompt maintenance—"gets things done," "reliable," and "helpful" appear in summaries. However, other reviews report negative experiences tied to a management change: poor communication, perceived unfair treatment, and in serious cases allegations of discrimination and prejudice (including disability-related claims). One review mentions a lease being canceled and the tenant being required to reapply. These conflicting accounts suggest variability in staff performance and consistency of policy enforcement; some residents experience efficient, courteous service while others encounter administrative or interpersonal problems with management.

Facility condition and safety present another dual pattern. Many residents report a clean, quiet, well-kept building with useful amenities and a full schedule of activities. At the same time, there are recurring, concrete safety and maintenance concerns: entry doors that stick or do not close properly, doors left un-repaired, and broader "security issues" and "safety concerns." Specific maintenance problems were also called out, such as issues with the electric stove and heating, and cosmetic needs like carpets that require shampooing. These problems range in severity from minor inconveniences to safety-related issues; importantly, some reviews indicate these problems are addressed promptly, while others say they persist. That inconsistency is a key pattern to note.

Resident life and community dynamics are also mixed. A number of reviewers appreciate the range of activities and friendly neighbors, portraying a supportive community with engaging programming. Conversely, a few reviews describe interpersonal friction among residents—"closed-minded," "crabby," or "mean to each other"—which can impact communal life and perceived atmosphere. There is no consistent commentary about dining services in these summaries; food/dining is not a prominent theme in the provided feedback.

Notable patterns and takeaways for prospective residents: the strongest positives are unit quality (layout, light, kitchen), affordability, core amenities (laundry, elevator, shower hand rails), and a number of staff members who are praised for being helpful and responsive. The primary concerns are safety and security at entry points, inconsistently handled maintenance issues (particularly heating and stove problems), and serious administrative or interpersonal problems reported by some residents—including alleged discrimination and lease complications following management changes. Because experiences vary considerably, prospective tenants should (1) ask management about current security measures and recent repairs to entry doors, (2) inquire about the property’s policy and procedures for handling maintenance requests and discrimination complaints, and (3) speak with current residents and the on-site director to gauge consistency of staff responsiveness and community atmosphere. These steps can help determine whether the current management and building conditions match the positive experiences reported by many residents or reflect the negative patterns reported by others.
