Catholic Social Services (adult day center)

Catholic Social Services (adult day center) is part of Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan and has a long history of working with parishes and local groups to help people in need, and for over a hundred years they've stayed focused on caring for anyone facing tough times, whether that's poverty, disability, aging, or recovery from addiction, and they go about this work inspired by their faith. The adult day center offers weekday care for older adults or adults with disabilities who can't be alone safely, especially those living with early or middle-stage dementia, and the staff provides supervision, personal care, structured activities like music, art, games, and movement, as well as meals, snacks, and help with medications, and some centers offer transportation and flexible hours, like part-time, full-week, or even some evening and weekend times. There's a strong community feeling with group activities, special programs for social engagement, and even a Pet Therapist that comes in for visits, but proof of vaccination is needed for the animals, and they've got a program named Be Our Guest Adult Day. Many programs aim to help people stay as independent as possible, such as Home Maintenance and Safety Services, assistance with Medicare or Medicaid, and the Senior Resource Guide, plus there's a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for adults over 55 who want to volunteer. There's also support for homeless individuals, people leaving the hospital, those facing substance abuse, or anyone needing housing, disaster relief, mental health support, or food security, so it's a busy place with lots of connections and plenty of services aimed at both practical care and hope in hard times. Caregivers can leave their loved ones here and feel a level of comfort knowing the person will be looked after by trained people in a safe, welcoming space, and reduced fees help some families pay, especially if money is tight. The center isn't really set up to handle advanced dementia or very serious medical conditions, but staff make sure to check if each person fits what the center can provide, and they try to keep the hours, staff, and routines the same so everyone has some stability. Catholic Social Services also looks after people through counseling, immigration help, caregiver support, addiction recovery, group programs, respite care, and more, with a focus on building a strong community, supporting dignity, helping families, and making sure nobody feels overlooked.
