Nolte River Place sits on the southeast corner of the Homestead at Anoka senior care campus and has 80 new affordable apartments for adults 62 and older, and what's nice is that it's close to Rum River Trail, the Northstar Commuter Rail, downtown Anoka, and several restaurants and businesses. Volunteers of America National Services built this facility as the third part of the Homestead at Anoka community, and it welcomes seniors with income from at or below 50% up to 60% of the area median income, so there's a mix of people from different backgrounds all in one place. The building has both one-bedroom and two-bedroom units with each apartment coming with a refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, stove range, and heating and cooling you control yourself, and the whole place is no-pets. Residents get underground parking, but details about parking, dining, and laundry services come after applying.
The care at Nolte River Place focuses on helping people stay independent as long as they can by offering daily assistance like help with bathing, dressing, and medication, and there's 24-hour supervision for those who need it, which is often a comfort when folks age. The building has special features for those who need some extra support, like 10 apartments with Project Rental Assistance Contracts (PRAC) vouchers and 8 apartments set aside for formerly unhoused senior veterans, with additional help from partners like MACV and the VA, and you'll also find 40 units at 50% AMI and 32 units at 60% AMI. An on-site Service Coordinator is available to help residents connect with community resources and support services, which can make things a bit easier.
Inside, there's a library, an exercise room, a hair salon, conference room, and a community room, and folks tend to gather for fitness classes, business meetings, movie nights, and other scheduled activities. Residents can take part in outdoor programs or walk the nearby trails, and there are outdoor spaces for fresh air and visiting with neighbors. The dining services include a dining room with all-day, restaurant-style options, allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly meals, and a chef prepares the food, while additional community services like move-in coordination, laundry, housekeeping, concierge, and family support are available for those who want them.
Nolte River Place is new construction and hopes to give older adults safe and affordable housing that fits different needs as people age, and the facility doesn't allow pets. Applications are being taken now ahead of opening. The goal is to provide a comfortable place where seniors can live, enjoy some activities, and get the level of support they need as time goes by.
