    About Madison Healthcare Services

Madison Healthcare Services is a non-profit, church-related community that offers several choices for seniors and their families, and you'll find both independent and assisted living options here, plus a skilled nursing facility called Madison Care Center and Prairie Winds Senior & Assisted Living, and the campus works as part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community, so people can move between care levels as their needs change, and there's a strong focus on community and holistic well-being, with resident and family councils that meet to share concerns and suggest improvements. The facility accepts Medicare and Medicaid for health insurance, and staff include experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, covering everything from family medicine and mental health to dermatology, urology, orthopedics, general surgery, and more, and there's a fully staffed medical clinic, a skilled nursing facility with up to 65 beds, a 12-bed critical access hospital, and lots of healthcare services including cardiology and home care, lab and imaging, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, upper GI procedures, and emergency care, and you'll find outreach specialty services and a patient portal called My Chart for communication. Seniors can stay in furnished rooms or independent apartments, and each has private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, phones, and air conditioning, and there's a secure apartment building for independent living, daily housekeeping and laundry services, plus scheduled transportation and parking. For safety, every resident has access to a 24-hour call system, and the nursing staff are on site 12 to 16 hours a day, with 24-hour supervision, and care services cover help with bathing, dressing, medications, and daily tasks, and Big Stone Therapies provides various therapy services onsite. In the dining room, a professional chef prepares meals that fit special diets, like allergy-sensitive dishes and diabetes-friendly choices, and they'll serve in a restaurant-style setting. Community life includes a range of activities like movie nights in the on-site movie theater, arts and crafts rooms, a library, walking paths, music programs, a fitness room, wellness programs, gardening, and organized resident-run activities, and there are church-based programs and events since the community keeps its spiritual focus. Madison Healthcare Services is recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital, and it's part of the Headwaters High-Value Network, working to improve healthcare for rural residents, and there's a Connected Care Program for remote monitoring of health data, plus MHS Virtual Visits so people can meet with doctors online. You'll also find direct access lab testing, outreach for audiology and hearing aids at TC Audiology, and a strong emphasis on patient-centered care through their Certified Healthcare Home. The campus stays open six days a week, with clinic hours Monday through Friday and half-days on Saturday, and provides common medical services such as flu shots, school and DOT physicals, chronic disease care, prenatal visits, children's healthcare, preventive care, and urgent needs. There's always something for residents to do, with scheduled daily activities and a choice of indoor and outdoor gathering places, from gardens to group activity rooms, and all services are laid out so people can feel cared for and comfortable as their needs change over time.
