    About Catholic Eldercare

Catholic Eldercare is a nonprofit that's been serving older adults since 1983 on two campuses in Northeast Minneapolis, right in the middle of a neighborhood with gardens, koi ponds, patios, chapels, a gift shop, and comfortable indoor spaces, so you don't feel boxed in and there's always something to do or see each day. The facility offers almost every level of care for folks 62 years and older, like independent living apartments at River Village North and Wyndris, assisted living, memory care, adult day services that bring seniors together for activities and social time at Eldercare by Day, and a special MainStreet Lodge which was recently remodeled. For those with greater needs, there's the Albert J. Hofstede Care Center, where skilled nursing staff work around the clock in comfortable semi-private rooms with big bathrooms and enough space for personal things, making sure every person has their own corner and the staff get to know each resident well with assigned aides and personal care plans. There's also physical, occupational, and speech therapy on site, a whole wing for people recovering from hospital stays, and strong transitional care to help folks get back home when they can. People with dementia or Alzheimer's get specialized help in a safe, respectful environment from memory care staff. Music therapy and MnemeTherapy activities lift spirits using painting, singing, and even gardening, with pastoral ministry for those who want spiritual support from all faith backgrounds-after all, the place has its roots with St. Anthony of Padua Chapel and tries to nurture the spirit as much as the body. Meals come five times a day and activities fill the hours, while therapy dogs and recreation programs bring some extra joy. The buildings are wheelchair accessible, bathrooms are always close by, and staff accept credit cards, so paying for services is pretty simple. Employees, who are known for being warm and caring, treat residents more like family, and the full range of services makes it possible for someone to get the help they need even as their needs change, all without having to move far from the community they know.
