About Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home

Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville, named after a Marine, Vietnam Veteran, and Bronze Star recipient, is a place made only for Texas veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents, where up to 160 residents can live and get nursing care. The staff has experience helping with daily tasks, supporting veterans who need long-term care, skilled nursing, or post-hospital recovery, and they're good at creating a community filled with men and women who served in the military, so folks share stories and make friends. The community has a special secured Alzheimer's unit for up to 32 people, offering memory care in a safe setting with cozy visiting spots, a private dining room, its own activity space, and a pleasant outdoor courtyard that wraps around, so people with dementia get support in a comfortable environment. Rooms and programs focus on helping keep people active and social, with plenty of activities planned by caring staff who try to help everyone stay both independent and healthy, as much as possible, and meals are known to be both nutritious and tasty, earning them a Best Meals and Dining award, since chefs and meal planners make sure to serve food folks can enjoy. They're certified for Medicare and Medicaid and can help veterans get help with Aid and Attendance or covering medicine, offering extra guidance with long-term care costs and special programs for VA benefits, too. Nurses and other professionals give constant support, while there are full rehab services for those who need physical, speech, or occupational therapy, and there's respite care for those who might only need a temporary stay. The home opened back in 2000 and has kept its focus on providing high-acuity medical care and dedicated support with services tailored to the unique needs and well-being of veterans, so it's not surprising that reviews mention a good experience and thoughtful care.
