About Millway Care and Rehabilitation Center

CLOSED - Millway Care and Rehabilitation Center sat at 8534 W Mill Rd in Milwaukee and was known as a group home with 81 beds, and it could take care of up to 60 residents, and the building had full sprinklers and was run by a for-profit corporation, not tied to a hospital or a larger chain. The staff at Millway Care and Rehabilitation Center gave residential care for people who needed help with daily activities, and folks could get skilled nursing and rehabilitation too, which meant somebody could stay long-term or short-term depending on what they needed, and the caregivers followed high standards set by the state and their peers, working to serve residents and families with a fair and caring way. Along with regular nursing care, residents could get enhanced memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, respite stays if someone caring for them at home needed a break, on-site physical and therapy programs, and treatments tailored to help recover from illnesses or injuries, and their team included registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants, who put in an average of 2.36 CNA hours, 1.07 LPN hours, and 0.62 RN hours per resident each day. The team also ran caregiver training and certification programs for dementia and Alzheimer's, senior home care, residential assisted living, and Medicaid, so the folks working there could really know what they were doing. Millway Care and Rehabilitation Center paid attention to things like pain management, pressure sores, and tracked health changes such as weight loss or urinary tract infections, and they had measures for preventing the use of physical restraints, and they also had programs to check on depression and anxiety in residents. They worked to make sure everyone got their flu and pneumonia vaccines, hired staff with no record of abuse or neglect, and let residents and families join in councils to talk about care concerns. The building passed a recent state inspection and had a record for meeting clinical standards, but Millway wasn't part of a continuing care retirement setup and didn't have a special label for being a focus facility. Medicaid and Medicare were accepted, and the center tracked its staffing and resident care needs and provided info on health and quality measures, focusing on both short-term recovery and long-term skilled nursing care for older adults who couldn't manage fully on their own.
