    Compassionate clean care; activities limited

I placed my mom here five years ago and have been consistently impressed by the compassionate, capable staff and the hands-on owner Colleen. Communication with family is excellent, nights are staffed 24/7 awake, and we've had no skin breakdown or COVID - which gives us real peace of mind. The home is immaculate, rooms are spacious, move-in was easy, and meals are good. My only caveat: activities are limited and my mom can get bored; they could consider more planned events or an LPN, but overall I highly recommend this caring, attentive facility.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews portray Quail Manor Assisted Living as a small, home-like facility that provides consistently compassionate, attentive care and a very clean, comfortable living environment. Multiple reviewers emphasize the warmth and dedication of caregivers and owners, noting strong, proactive communication with families and a visible owner presence (specifically naming Colleen). The overall tone is highly positive around basic daily care, cleanliness, and resident comfort, with several families stating they would recommend the home and report long-term continuity of care.

Care quality and staff: Care quality is the most frequently praised area. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as friendly, caring, and genuinely invested in residents' welfare. Specific positives include consistent 24/7 awake overnight monitoring, caregivers who form strong attachments to residents, and families reporting no skin breakdowns or COVID infections for their loved ones. The owner is described as supportive and hands-on; management is characterized as knowledgeable and proactive in communication. These items together create a picture of a facility where families feel informed and residents receive attentive personal care.

Facilities and move-in experience: The physical environment is consistently described as immaculate, neat, and pleasant. Rooms are noted to be spacious and come furnished with basic essentials, and reviewers found the move-in process easy. Dining is highlighted favorably for quality and variety of food, with meals served at tables rather than in isolation — an indicator of a more residential, social dining experience.

Clinical/medical limitations: While caregivers are praised for compassion and capability, several reviews raise a practical limitation: caregivers have constrained scope for immediate medical care. Multiple reviewers suggest the facility consider hiring an LPN or increasing licensed nursing support to better address higher-acuity needs. This suggests Quail Manor is well-suited for residents who require assisted living support rather than intensive medical or skilled nursing care. Families seeking more onsite clinical coverage should verify the current clinical staffing model.

Activities and social programming: The clearest recurring concern is the relative paucity of planned activities. Reviewers describe a quiet, low-key environment with few events beyond the occasional singer or card night; some residents were reported as bored. There are also reports of occasional exclusion from group spaces or activities (for example, not being invited to a puzzle room), indicating both a need to expand programming and to ensure inclusive outreach to all residents. For prospective residents who prioritize regular social programming and engagement, this is an area to clarify with management.

Areas for small operational improvements: Reviewers offered a few specific, actionable suggestions: post or provide an up-to-date weekly menu so families and residents can see meal plans, and consider adding licensed nursing staff (LPN) to expand clinical capabilities. Addressing activity frequency and inclusiveness would also improve resident satisfaction for those craving more engagement.

Bottom line recommendation: Quail Manor appears to be an excellent choice for families seeking a clean, home-like assisted living setting with deeply caring staff, strong owner involvement, and reliable 24/7 oversight. It is particularly well suited to residents who value individualized attention, a quieter atmosphere, and stable caregiving relationships. However, prospective residents with higher medical needs or those who require frequent, structured activities should discuss clinical staffing levels and the activity calendar with management before deciding. The overall pattern of reviews is strongly positive on care, cleanliness, and communication, with the primary opportunity areas being nursing coverage and enriched social programming.

    About Quail Manor Assisted Living

Quail Manor Assisted Living sits at 13820 North 65th Avenue in Glendale, Arizona-not far from Peoria, which is about three miles away-where you'll find a medium-sized community with room for ten residents, mostly focused on memory care, so the staff here are trained to help people with Alzheimer's and dementia, and they've designed the place to prevent confusion and make things easier for folks who need extra attention, even installing things like Wander Guard systems and keeping the area secure so residents can still spend time outdoors safely. The building lets in a lot of light and features both indoor and outdoor walking paths, private bathrooms, and a garden, and there's a barber shop, a beauty salon, and a library that residents can enjoy, and for those who like animals, you'll find pet-friendly policies that let dogs stay. The rooms come in studio and suite layouts, always with air conditioning, wheelchair accessible showers, internet, cable TV, and private options, and although the starting rate for private rooms is $5,300 a month, they haven't put full pricing information out where everyone can see it. Families can get help from their senior living advisors for free to figure out what's best-this is part of their approach, offering education and guidance so people can make decisions that fit their needs, and the staff here will walk families through every step.

Meals are included, and anyone can ask for food at any time, plus there are guest meals, kosher, and vegetarian options, with everything balanced for nutrition. Transportation comes with the package, so residents can get to appointments or run errands, and there's parking for residents as well as nearby public transit. Folks can join in activities like stretching classes, yoga, barbecue picnics, movie nights, birthday and holiday parties, and even pet-focused programs, with a chaplain, priest, and rabbi visiting sometimes, and there's always something scheduled to keep minds and bodies busy. Quail Manor has 24-hour supervision and a call system so help is always close, with staff trained for medication management, help with bathing, dressing, and moving around, plus diabetic, high acuity, and incontinence care. They can even support those needing hospice care or short-term stays, and everyone gets a personalized care plan.

The facility has independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home, and in-home care services, and the environment feels homely, away from city noise but still close to things people need. Rooms and common spaces-including arts rooms, community dining, and indoor and outdoor spots for gathering-are designed to help seniors feel comfortable and safe. The team uses special tools like VELA chairs to make movement easier and support independence, which helps residents keep their dignity and confidence as they manage daily tasks. Quail Manor Assisted Living is state licensed until July 31, 2025, holds license number AL10791H, and is rated 4.5 stars online-sometimes higher-with reviews noting helpful, kind staff who are awake all night to check on residents. Tour options let families see the daily routines, food, and activities for themselves. Their focus is on promoting a warm, close-knit environment where each person gets attention that fits their own needs and interests, which has led to awards and above-average satisfaction scores, so Quail Manor does well by older adults who need an extra hand or extra care, especially those dealing with memory loss.
